Everyone's now level 50, literally just got Croak to said level. Still need to EV train and get Battle Maison items (Life Orb, Assault Vest and Ability Capsule, anyone able to give me tips on what would be the quickest way of doing things here?)

And then I was also planning on retraining my Goodra to make it Male and Gooey rather than Female and Hydration... which itself still takes ages...

Beat the Elite Four today, so my third Pokemon should be showing up in the Safari!

I'm actually surprised that Hypnotoad didn't faint at all and usually two-shotted the E4 Pokes she went up against, even though she was about 10 levels under everything in there.

Shouldn't be too long, nowadays breeding's pretty speedy, especially if you have low standards for IVs. Hell, it's a hop (just one hop) in the park if that's the case, since getting a single ability and gender is easy peasy providing you have the appropriate parents, in this case, anything with Gooey.

Singles is easier and gives 48 bp for 20 battles. Starts of slow, so don't do it if you're very liable to lose, but really... They're very easy.
Super singles gives more points, marginally, but is harder and you don't get the 20 point bonus on beating number 20. It's more engaging though... But I haven't got past 13 yet. (I don't have a proper team though: no regrets!) 
The battle institute gives around 5-13 (more or less) points per run. Depends on how good you are. If you find yourself with a great team, this is best. One guy at league says the AI isn't equipped to deal with Megas and was able to get a perfect elite rank with only his MegaKangaskhan. Given the insane strength of MKanga and the inane stupidity of the AI, I believe him.

Breaking news: the weird-ass shellder on slowbro's tail has a bottom jaw. What the hell.

Slowpoke existing just makes it more feasible actually. As in Shellder is mimicking Slowpoke?! Plenty of example for such a thing in real life. However the fact that Slowbro evolves from Slowpoke does make it less feasible.
On second thought, maybe that's what you meant??!

That makes Knockoff actually good. I always saw it as a pretty sucky move, especially in game, but that makes it work.

Also, I knew it had a bottom jaw it's pretty easy to see in most pictures

i've been killing it at the battle spot thing lately

i have two teams to choose from, one centered around supporting my mega pinsir and one based on rain. i choose my team based on what i see in the opponent's team preview

i guess i should do the global link thing so i can do ranked battles instead of free battles

You can only find one bird per game, depending on which Kalos starter you chose at the beginning (Articuno for Chespin, Zapdos for Fennekin, Moltres for Froakie).

if you're shiny hunting then you should do pokeradar, it's easier and all it costs you is a couple hundred super repels

You fish over and over and over again.

Any of the subtleties you could guess for yourself.
But basically, if you're getting a completely consecutive chain of pokemon? You're doing it right.

basically, the basics are:
if you stand in one spot, without moving or even turning, and fish over and over without ever losing a catch or not hooking anything, the chance of fishing up a shiny gradually goes up and up the more times you fish
(you don't have to defeat/catch/etc what you fish up btw, just encountering it then running is fine)
putting something with suction cups in the front of your party is pretty much mandatory since it'll make you almost guaranteed to hook something each time whereas otherwise you'd have like a 50% chance of "nothing's biting haha try again" and your chain breaking every time
but yeah just keep doing it and eventually you're bound to run into a shiny, you just gotta have good luck and good timing

Speaking of chain fishing, I caught a shiny skrelp last night while waiting for my cousin to have her baby. I was chain fishing for a few hours.

A couple alternatives to Suction Cups: the obvious one is Sticky Hold, but you don't need either if you have the right fishing spot. Basically look for a tile that will be surrounded on all four sides when you're next to it fishing. But getting something with Suction Cups is super easy (just go hunting for Inkays and use Whirlwind or Roar to filter out the Contrary ones), so that's probably your best bet.

(Or you could take one of mine away)
