When in doubt, priority + prior weakening. Quick attack is one of Pinsir's valuable niches, and you really don't need X-Scissor where strong fighting moves are concerned (completely redundant coverage). You could try a shuffler or hazard setter as a team mate beforehand, weakening a bunch of things so Pinsir can sweep unhindered. I've been doing the same thing with my Greninja and Talonflame; Talonflame can sweep great but only with prior damage. Greninja can't sweep too well but forces a lot of switches in the meantime and punches holes in the switchins for later.

I'd suggest a shuckle for hazards/trapping support but two bug types, ewww. Plus I don't really know how good Shuckle is yet, only that Infestation is not actually bad and it gets sticky web. That would still help you though.

basically my strategy when going into battle is to send out talonflame first, do as much damage as possible, then use tailwind when it's about to faint to speed up my team. then i usually send out goodra to set up rain and use muddy water to mess with the opponent's accuracy. once goodra goes down, i go with clawitzer for rain and STAB boosted surf, which OHKO's anything that doesn't resist it and doesn't have extraordinary special defense

i'm switching out my goodra and talonflame, so that strategy is gonna change a bit. i would keep talonflame, but i have my heart set on heat rotom already

right now my team looks like this

chesnut
pinsir
clawitzer
heat rotom
flygon

and i'm looking for something in the last slot that can set up rain, since most of my party members can benefit from it (chesnut loses its big fire weakness so it can set up easier, same for pinsir, clawitzer gets super good surf, rotom gets 100% accurate thunder... not sure about flygon)

AND SO BEGIN THE ADVENTURES OF NINTENERD, SHADOW, AND SLY COOPER.

Man, why is route 14 perpetually autumn? It's kinda weird to have a route with orange leaves and some bare trees be a five-minute walk away from (a) route(s) that are filled with flowers and fully green trees.

oh man that goomy sounds awesome

and i can attest that it's a pretty solid team member. pretty disappointing as a pseudo legend but it'll get you through the game pretty well. the only hurdle is that goomy's experience growth is the slowest i have ever seen, but that's not a problem once it evolves. goodra has spectacular special defense and can tank pretty much any special move, even super-effective ones. it would also be very helpful if your shiny one has hydration, because it keeps that ability all through its evolution and works great with rain dance.

also i'm gonna use the in-game trade farfetch'd for awhile too, i guess.

Nope, he's got Sap Sipper. Oh well, it's an alright ability too, and more immunities are always nice. Besides, I don't like using weather moves very much in-game, since usually there's at least one team member of mine that is negatively affected by a weather.

NINJA'D(BECAUSE I DIDN'T REALIZE THERE WAS ANOTHER PAGE): You know, I like how they give you Farfetch'd early enough in the game that you can actually get some use out of it. I think that was a really good idea on their part. It was actually pretty fun to have a Farfectch'd who was just as good as the rest of my team for a while.

Dude. Zapdos > shiny clawitzer. Zapdos is a once-off, you can fish for clawitzers. That'd kind of how you get shiny clawitzers. Fishing for them. It'd an official thing and everything.

Omfg it never occurred to me....

I've been EXP share training up Mienfoo, Gardevoir and Gligar for my competitive teams on Trevenant hordes, and now they all have like max Attack?

This is excellent. Certainly makes EV training Mienshao and Gliscor quicker. Gardevoir I'll have to find a Reset Bag for, though.

Mega Mewtwo/Mega Alakazam
Yveltal/???
Metagross
Bisharp
Wobbuffet

Only gotta my Malamar, Mewtwo, Yveltal, and Wobbuffet so far though. Anything in the Metagross family is suuuch a pain to get since you can only get them via Friend Safari and no trainers you can battle have them so you can't look for them on the GTS unless you already have one :'(
Also trying to get four max IVs on a male Spinda so I can breed good Pawniard and Abra, but it's taking forever.

I reeeeeally want to know what a shiny Dragalge looks like. Green or red, maybe?

Actually bE, they've upgraded the GTS. If you know the name of the Pokémon you're looking for in real life, you can search for it, regardless of whether or not you've seen it in-game. Now if they could just deal with all of the hideously one-sided offers.

this is news to me

If you fish repeatedly in the same place without moving or getting a "nothing is biting" then the chances of getting a shiny increase.

Basically, the idea is you keep fishing up Pokémon from the same spot without failing to hook anything, and as you do, the chances of finding a shiny go up, just like with the Poké-Radar. I haven't tried it yet, but I probably will soon to see if I can land a shiny Skrelp for an all-Poison team I'm thinking of putting together.

fishing repetetively in the same spot. Usually in a corner. Don't move, don't catch anything until you find your shiny, don't get into a battle that's not continuing the chain of fishing in the same place.

Yup, get past 40 and it's almost a certainty. Really tough going though. Also, having Suction Cups in the lead slot is mandatory.

Yeah I'm trying to figure out who I should put in my last slot. Right now I have
- Alakazam
- Malamar
- Talonflame
- Aegislash
- Chesnaut

I haven't seen one yet in Y, either. In fact, I've only ever seen two non-guaranteed shinies: the virtual Salamence at the very start of XD (and this was on a replay, so it was extra painful because I knew I wasn't going to get to keep it) and my shiny Nidoqueen from Leaf Green who was lost due to Action Replay-related glitches that forced me to reset.

I have seen the Shiny Tailow that I killed and and that's about it

I'm now trying to find a shiny with the chain fishing thingity though
