Pokemon news discussion 2: Spoiler Tag Boogaloo
let's just leave it at "every legendary theme is awesome."
except lugia's
and reshi/zeks's is boring after the intro.
and arceus' is kinda meh.

This was something I did like a year ago involving "Pokeymans"...

Also, idk if people still care, but I pronounce it Po-keh-mon. That is, after all, the closest you can get to "pocket" without sounding kinda retarded.

Man, so much to look at
But before I do, I pronounce it like a german word and I was really confused when I first heard someone say Pokemon with the ee sound (which sounds like the german "i" and I was wondering why they'd say Pokimon)

But that's a fan remix, not the original.

Re: General chat: Who needs mspaf anyway
This is arguably more boring than the original and with worse instruments, but if you insist.
But yeah I don't really get it. Maybe if it was Pokeemon, or Pokeymon...
I don't think the German I is any different from the regular I.OverlordJ wrote:Man, so much to look at

The English "I" is pronounced like the German "Ei"

Well, only sometimes.OverlordJ wrote:The English "I" is pronounced like the German "Ei"
Usually its quite similar to "ee" except not as stressed. Did, picnic, sit, dick, fickle... I can think of more that are pronounce than the other way.
I'm pretty sure this is identical to the german way eg ich

Re: General chat: Who needs mspaf anyway
That is true, if you pronounce it with a short sound, it sounds the same as the german version. However, if you pronounce it with a long sound, it sounds like the German "Ei"
For example in "die" "site" or, obviously, in "I"
P.S.: "Like" is another good example
EDIT:
In case it wasn't perfectly clear:
The short "I" is pronounced the same in both English and German
The long "I" is pronounced differently in the way I described it
For example in "die" "site" or, obviously, in "I"
P.S.: "Like" is another good example

Re: General chat: Who needs mspaf anyway
I think the point to take away from all of this is that English is more complicated than it needs to be.OverlordJ wrote:That is true, if you pronounce it with a short sound, it sounds the same as the german version. However, if you pronounce it with a long sound, it sounds like the German "Ei"

The point to take away from all of this is that I pronounce Pokemon with a short "e" sound and was confused when I heard people pronounce it whith what sounded like a long "i"

There are honestly more exceptions to english language rules than there are ones that follow them

Re: General chat: Who needs mspaf anyway
So, Eight badge get. Wulfric wasn't joking. Most of my team were physical attackers.
Anyway, I think the hairdresser girl might be colorblind. It thinks that honey is slightly dark blonde and orange is light brown???!
Also, thanks to Druplesnubb, I now cannot unsee the relation between this and Pokemon.

Re: General chat: Who needs mspaf anyway
That orange is an appropriate red hair colour though. It's like the Miis, there's no red hair selection but the off blonde does the job really nicely. Orange hair (though there's really no such thing, the term is red) is not actually orange. Nor is it red.
It's cultural conditioning anyway, you see the colour you expect to see.
Unless you're someone like this.

But most people who'd identify as redheads would not have such strong colouring. Even then it's not the carroty colour people imagine.

It's not lame though, its as good as Ice Beam and ignores sp. defense boosts and Light Screen.
