Re: Pokemon game discussion
CA don't be absurd I already have an excellent Sharpedo and a shiny carvanha sister and I would not dream of usurping their utmost superiority <3
Seeing some rotom preferences here... Wouldn't know which one though. Heat is interesting but iffy defensively, cut is cool but situational, wash is awesome but clashes with Lefrogue (though goes well with Talonflame. And Galvantula in turn goes well with Greninja).
Basically. Rotom: cool pokemon that I can finally breed decently now with great pivoting skills and colourful STAB
Galvantula: would-be cool previously useless pokemon that gets a single insanely good move and is totally a spiderbro to Greninja
Togekiss: gen 4 throwback given a new and excellent lease on life, set to be premier fairy type and has cool Wish passing abilities
Talonflame: classic underdog with some seriously neat surprise/gimmick factor in the form of priority Roost and Acrobatics , cool offensive typing
Meanwhile, Greninja: really awesome not-to-be-missed ability with great speed, usable sp.atk and a possible option on spikes.
So yeah, those are why these guys are all on my list. Crobat and Chestnaught narrowly miss out because they're not interesting enough for me to bother with before the meta settles. Other guys like would-be megas seem like too much of a gamble for the same reason.

Re: Pokemon game discussion
Well, guess who just caught themselves a female Infiltrator Zubat!
As D_What outlined on the last page, Crobat gets some nice buffs this generation, so I'm pretty pleased.

Just beat the final gym. Does the Iceberg Badge actually have liquid water inside it? Also, why do all the Gym Guides this game feel the need to emphasize that your name has been engraved on the statues at the entrance?

Re: Pokemon game discussion
Just so's you know, it doesn't have to be female anymore. Males work too, best used with Ditto.
What's the best way to identify hidden abilities in hordes, anyway? If an ability somehow manages to activate it often won't tell you which one has it.
And the guys says that to distract you from the fact he no longer can afford to give you fresh water. Times are hard
Call me back if it learns extreme speed

do a pinsir because mega pinsir is cool
Also pinsir sucks and his mega form debatably sucks. Other guys like would-be megas seem like too much of a gamble for the same reason.

Re: Pokemon game discussion
My best tip would be to get a Pokemon with Role Play
EDIT:
In case you haven't decided yet, I'd say Galvantula, because I think they are neat.
Or Togekiss if you want to upset me, because I hate Togekiss but I admit that it's pretty good, especially now that it's a fairy.

Re: Pokemon game discussion
When catching Zubat, I set up a substitute and watch carefully to see if any Zubat was attacking through it. It's quite possible, though a little difficult, to tell which one is attacking when it's astonish, while Leech Life is a dead giveaway.d_what wrote:

Other abilities would be tougher, but Role Play sounds like a good idea if you have any Pokemon that learn it.

Typing is suboptimal from a Stealth Rock perspective but otherwise solid. His new ability Aerilate turns Normal Moves Flying, which gives him a powerful STAB in Return, and STAB priority in Quick Attack. With a mon that already has Close Combat and Earthquake and now has 155 Atk, 105 speed and 120/90 defenses? That's nothing to scoff at.
Plus, if you pick something off before Mega-evolving you can nab a Moxie Boost before unleashing Mega Pinsir.

Re: Pokemon game discussion
The Pokemons that naturally learn Role Play in fifth gen are Kadabra, Stantler, Meloetta and Mr. Mimes line. Assuming there isn't a tutor for it like there was in HGSS/B2W2 these are probably your best options. Since I heard someone has an Abra in their friendsafarie, getting a Kadabra would probably be the easiest choice.
Besides that, another option I like to use is Ralts and it's evolutions (not counting Gallade) though I am not sure how Trace would interact with horde battles.
Then again, Ralts and it's evolutions learn Hypnosis, which makes them doubly useful for Catching wild Pokemons.
Lastly, I'd really suggest trying to get a mon with Sweet Scent, which supposedly makes horde battles more likely in this gen.
Maybe a Amoonguss with Sweet Scent and Spore?

Re: Pokemon game discussion
Meowstic learns Role Play at lv 44.
Man, that was a disappointing Haunted House. Though I'm curious, what would have happened if I didn't tip the old man?
Lavarre town has a cool music. Anyway, time to fight for dat sixth badge.
Also, Gengarite. Random.
EDIT:
Game Freak, you're full of shoot, I've seen a gym like this before, don't you say this whole teleport thing is a unique new thing. Though it looks cool in semi-3D.
Also, I love how you can just like spin in place. I've been doing it in the swamp for like half an hour now, and it's so amazing. The marsh itself is awesome.
Now I will make my rounds around Kalos before continuing to the Factory.
Also, I'm so over-leveled.

Re: Pokemon game discussion
Okay. So.
Anyway MPinsir gets great coverage and all (Fight/Flying is excellent) though Earthquake takes preference over CC because of CC's downsides, and sadly Ground/Flying is NOT good coverage. Moxie pinsir is insanely situational, akin to rain dish 'to use: merely better than the alternative. Particularly with SR's nerf this gen and the increased viability of flying types, of Pinsir wasn't a mega I'd say sure. This thing can wreck some shit with support. But that's the point, it need SO much support. There are a million and two ways to take it down only some of which are Revenge killing. Using it is a modest boost in strength traded for more effort than it's really worth, including a mega slot.
Should it get a less obnoxious fighting move or Extremespeed though, then yeah I'll start paying attention.
Also guys: Rotom is off the list. Trick and Pain Split, two of Rotom's signature moves, are Move tutor'd. And I can't breed a rotom properly in 5th anyway so, until the inevitable tutor game of gen 6, Rotom is off the table and back into the attic with the rest of the furniture.
Which leaves Galvantula, Togekiss, Talonflame and -other- . I'll be honest, I'd sooner leave Togekiss to a point I can actually consider using it in a team - plus every time I breed it I'll have to wait until its offspring evolve since Togepi won't breed. And Galvantula is terrible but for Compoundeyes Thunder (meh) and Sticky Web, and we still don't know it's entire distribution anyway. Which leaves Talonflame. Mostly I just want to mess about with its ability... Plus using a Greninja and Talonflame is tempting bait for random Wi-Fiers to think I'm just another kid using an in game team. But mostly the ability thing.
I'm still open to others though! I'm not doing any of the mainstays of last gen, or Dragalge because I love it too much to get it wrong. Water types are also out for now.

Heh, that's funny.
And yeah, no idea how to help you D, untill we know all of their movesets and eg moves and stuff like that, giving tips who to breed is tricky at best.

Just beat Y! Now I have a question for anyone who's beaten X that I'll put in spoiler tags even though it's relatively insignificant.
- Spoiler:
- Did AZ's Floette's flower resemble Xerneas, because in Y, it had three petals and bore Yveltal's color scheme and general pattern.
