Pokemon game discussion

So, does pokèmon-amie raise the "regular" happiness as well? I've got an Azurill getting dangerously close to level 18, and I'm wondering if I should bother pokèmon-amie-ing him for a while to try and get him evolved sooner. Also, where's the Mane Rater? I kind of screwed up one of my pokèmon's names, so hopefully I can fix it soon...

The name rater is in the Pokemon center of Camphrier Town :3

My current party:

Ballestra the Honedge, Lv. 23
Merlin the Pansage, Lv. 22 (ditching for Cool Dude the Inkay the second  I get into Ambrette)
Blaise the Braixen, Lv. 29
Pidgit the Pidgeotto, Lv. 25
MDR the Wartortle, Lv. 23
Flavio I the Yellow Floette, Lv. 21.

Route 8 is where you get inkay. I'm there right now. I like to catch everything in one area before moving on, so I'm working on Route 8, and the last thing I need is Zangoose. Zangoose only appears in a horde. A horde with four fucking Seviper and one fucking Zangoose. The stupid Seviper ATTACK THE ZANGOOSE INSTEAD OF ME AND KILL IT BEFORE I CAN CATCH IT ARGH NEED HELP
I can't use wide range moves, they're all level 8 and I'll kill them. Plus,the only good one I have is Flavio's Razor Leaf, which all the Sevipers resist. Son of a BITCH.

E: So I found a Bagon on route 8. I guess i wasn't done.

I have... 14 friends! 3 of them are only random Facebook people though, so they don't really count, though they are active players. You guys make up the bulk of them but there's also my internet buddy from deviant art and a old neighbour, but I have not seen him online yet. And at league tomorrow (first league since XY's release!!) I'll be adding way more. Gotta make that friend safari count, yo!

There's a snorlax blocking a bridge here and I've got a flute
And I may have to fight it after waking it up???
Yet I have neither the status moves nor the pokèballs to catch it now without taking like fifty tries
So, I would much rather not bother with trying to catch it this early-game if I can help it
And I'm just wondering
Is this my only chance to catch a snorlax in the entire game???
 
Who knows, I might not even have to fight it now, so this post may be pointless
But if you can just let me know if this is my only chance or not that'd be great.

i have no idea but i caught it on my first try by burning it with my firebird and using an ultra ball. probably just luck

also i find it a little weird that i have four rival trainers and yet not one of them has actually fought me in a battle

I'm pretty sure it's like any other special pokemon in previous generations; like Volcarona or Sudowoodo
I didn't catch it, but it's heavily implied it will be back.

Well, up to the point I am and I'm only a bit after the Snorlax encounter; Like 1-2 hour gameplay.

Anyway, man these Team Flare guys are so melodramatic. And Sycamore's assistants are scary as hell. Anyway, of to revive Spark.

Alright I haven't read anything else on this thread because I'm less than an hour into Pokemon Y and don't want spoilers and I bet you guys mentioned this already but in case you haven't here's my cool story so far.

I named my trainer Dregadude, since I didn't want to use my rl name when battling you guys in the future (and also since for the first time we get enough spaces for Dregadude to fit). Later on when I met my friends/rivals for the first time they wanted to give me a nickname. The first guy said "D-Meister" would be a good name. I thought it was cute how they take the first letter from your name. Then, the next girl thought up "Lil' D". Again, pretty cute, but that would be fairly dumb as a nickname. Then they turned to the nerd, who at first objected to nicknaming someone he had just met. But he came around and graced me with the nickname of...

...Big D.

At that point I had to put down the 3DS and try to control my maniacal laughing, because within half an hour I had already broken Pokemon. My roommates, when I explained it to them, joined me in the hysterics. It was great.

So now whenever my friends/rivals greet me they will recognize me as their good friend, "Big D". French people are weird.
