General Chat: The Smashening

My favourite to use in the Demo is lil ol Pikachu. Definitely my favourite. He's quick and can cross the stage quickly, plus he has a decent number of KO moves as well as some really satisfying low damage moves (that side aerial hnnnnggggg). I've gotten pretty good at timing Thunder too, so I can kinda chain hit enemies when they try to get back on the stage. Then time a smash attack right and KO time is here.

Link is probably my secondary demo main. He plays similarly to Pikachu in some ways, except he's slightly slower, but in response is wayyyy more powerful. Much like Pikachu and Thunder, I love using the bow to just repeatedly knock enemies off the stage when they get back up, and then just close in for the kill. It's fun. Apparently I'm a dick when it comes to ledges.

But yeah, I can now pretty consistently beat level 8 computers with both Pikachu and Link, which considering where I was earlier this week (struggling to beat lvl 5s iirc), is pretty impressive.

Oh and the Alts I'm using are Brendan!Pikachu bs RSE FANBOY, and Red Link, because I always preferred when he wore that tunic. Unless if I had to go underwater or some Junk I always wore it in Ocarina once I got it.

EDIT: oooooh Dee u just gave me an idea. Combusken assist trophy. Coming from my "game series". Jumps around doing Rapidfire Fire Punches.

I just have no idea what my moveset would be. Tonfas might be a cool weapon to use, though...

Base it on your personality or interests cA! It doesn't have to be a fighting thing at all, you don't have to have any weapons if you don't think they represent you well. I just happened to use a Scythe because I've a history of liking them and it makes sense to reference preexisting material, and Hanky's Banhammer was an admin reference. iT genuinely fences, hence fencing.

BTW Spark's Up Special is still the best Up Special in the history of Up Specials. I thought it was hilarious. Spark, would I be right in saying it's a little bit like Luigi's in that it has a small but really OP sweetspot? P.S if Nelly has ever played Smash you should ask her for hers since she has a history here. She can be an unlockable retro character!

(we could put together a roster? IDE: OJ in his current state is unlockable; lose 5 times in a row in any mode to unlock.)

Yes Dee it's totally like Luigi's in that regard. :0 Only, in terms of actual execution, it's more like Dedede's sans the downwards part. Only with possibly some flames made out of pure hype.

Also by using a boomerang I mean more like. Hitting people in the face with one for my neutral combo maybe. :0

Give Spark a Boomerang in a fighting game, and he... hits people in the face with it. You're worse than Dirk and his hats, by which I mean, yes continue to do the silly things with the boomerangs because this stuff is gold. Beat them over the head with them for your down aerial!


sorry Captain! I just do not have the time to draw a lot of things lately. Final year projects and all that. I should really be reading a thirty page doctorate paper on neural networks right now in fact :/ (Customisable Down Special: Procrastinate. Same as Introspection only instead of Knockback, Speed gets increased. Because I should have been doing other things so I have to hurry and catch up instead.) Everyone's on their own as far as roster images are concerned, but if people give me a DEFINITE (only doing this once per person), GOOD QUALITY, TRANSPARENT BACKGROUND image of what they'd want it won't take me long to paste it into the frame and write a name under it. I reserve the right to take eternity to do it though.

Alt costumes: God Tier Mode, Fancy Dress, Realistic Colours, Avatar (dead white and cell shaded with a blue-green square around my head) and Mudkip (blue clothes and a mudkip symbol).

I WISH I was fast. Or even moderately quick. It's my biggest failing as an artist, I think; I doubt and second-guess every single stroke I make, so most of the time the effort goes into revisions and rerevisions and dead ended projects. I suppose I should just try to DRAW SOMETHING and get it DONE regardless of how stylistically simple it is, like... pen opacity 60, medium edge, and just GO FOR IT, but I wouldn't even be happy with the sketch, let alone a finished thing. Aargh.


Edit: cA I just realised I am dissapointed in your move names. Sure, having a squid copter makes a lot of sense (...I can't believe I just said that and meant it) but your NAME. Cephalopod. Ascendant. IT'S RIGHT THERE. YOU HAVE AN ASCENDING CEPHALOPOD. Is there a horizontal version of ascending?

EDITEDIT: Also I just copped on to the fact that IF CC had any fire themed moves, and IF Spark had any electric ones, the first three characters on the roster would be a classic Fire-Thunder-Ice trio. Hmm. Odd how these things nearly happen sometimes.

Plus the Combusken part isn't always tagged onto the end of my name. Usually it's just Captain. On skype rn I'm called captain birds aye which is just layers upon layers of refential punnery and I am delighted that I came up with it.

Also the artstyle for me n Spark looks different, idk how dan did it but they don't look the same.

eh anyway. You can definitely tell the two pictures are done with different brushes, but you can also tell the colouring style/linework/anatomy is done by the same person. In any case, you can barely make out the differences on the smaller roster thumbnails since the detail is lost. 'Sides, remember Drega's Clauncher and Team Plasma comics? I really want to see him have a go at filling a roster slot. Where IS he anyway?

Also I kinda figured we'd all have the same symbol, since we're all from the same... uh, series. And from the Quarantine. And everyone having the same symbol would be redundant, but everyone having a unique symbol is... also sort of redundant. We're already unique! Not that I'd object to symbols. I've just never had one that really fit.
