I think the issue is that the rival space is shared by three characters in BW. So none of the characters really feel like your rival. But I would assume Cheren is probably the closest to actually being a rival. N is more of a repeat-visit antagonist.

Hmm, fair point I guess. Also, I support Cheren as your main rival, since he does kind of pull a Blue on us in BW2, what with him becoming a gymleader.

Cheren always felt like the main rival to me, since he grabbed the starter that was good against yours, and he was competing against you to be better. N was the antagonist, even if Ghetsis was the one pulling most of the strings.

Hmm, so, Cheren is your rival, N your antagonist and Ghetsis is the villain, yes?

cheren n and bianca are all rivals in black and white just like wally and may or brendan in ruby and saphire or trevor tierno shauna and calem or serena are in xy

Quantity of rivals =/= quality of rivals. It'd be nice if they took this fact into account in the next game.

in gen 7 you'll have 7 rivals, confirmed

I think each gen has some weird things that they could do without or that could have been done better.

Like, why did they give you the pokemon catching tutorial AFTE they had already given you a chance to catch stuff. I know that a lot of people already had two or more mons by the time the game showed them the tutorial. I get that we need to keep the tutorial in the game for newer players but wouldn't this have been a great chance to make it skippable? As in:
"Hey, let me show you how to catch Pokemons. Oh, I see you already caught some yourself. Do you want me to show you anyways?"
"Yes/No"
">No: Oh, alright then, go ahead."
