New features of the X/Y global link are going up on the 14th of January. The first attraction is some balloon popping game, and more levels for it will be unlocked depending on how many medals you've earned. You can earn items "useful for Pokémon Evolution" by playing.

There is also going to be a clothes discount coupon available, so if you haven't bought all the available clothes yet that'll be pretty useful, I guess.

The Gen V global link will also be closed down on that date, including the ability to wake up your pokémon, so do that ASAP if that applies. If you spent berries on cosmetic items like dolls or houses, well that was a big waste of time!

Apparentally this also means that the Gen V Global Trade Station will be taken down too? I'm sure they mentioned that would be safe, but that's not the case.

So I'm gonna be at Cities (City Championship) this Saturday,

Wow, well done and good luck! Is this the card game championship or the game game championship?

Cards, maybe games we don't know for sure yet. Games are bigger generally yet the card games generate bigger numbers. Might be the lower barrier to entry. But it's doubles format so I'm only going cards.
Also cities is open to everyone so it's not really a big deal providing you live around Dublin. It's Ireland's first major event IIRC. They're popping up in Galway and Limerick and Flaloolatown sort of too, but smaller events. Might mean a cultural Pokémon Renaissance, y'know?

Also beats me how you guys have never gone. There's one here and I manage to go, the US and the UK (including Belfast!!) have had hundreds over the years. I know the U.S is large, but surely it's not THAT large? I don't know what the story is for Germany and Australia, I KNOW there's some, (and Team Oceania typically do excellently in the international VGCs) but not how many and also Australia is huge.

I doubt there's a lot going on in Hungary somehow.

the beautiful part of it is that if it survives long enough to attack, it's going to attack your opponent for 40% of his starting life total. Whether or not it gets blocked or removed from combat somehow is another thing entirely. 8 damage is a LOT to be taking from a single creature.

I'm inclined to believe they're fake for a couple reasons. First, any new Eeveelutions would have been listed next to Sylveon in the Pokédex and marketed to all hell. Second, the guy who was able to hack the game and find the three event legendaries and Mega Lati@s says that those are the only unrevealed Pokémon hidden in the code. Finally, the designs are just too low-quality to have been made by Game Freak.

EDIT: Also the timing. XY have been out for three months now, which is too soon for a new game to be on the horizon but too late for us to be discovering new Pokémon.

Those Plus and Minus rumours have been going around for a while and they're basically bogus and idiotic.

I somehow doubt the new Eeveelutions as well.

It's worth noting though that there seem to be several signs pointing at possibly some totally new Pokemon in the third game (ala Yellow/Crystal/Emerald/Platinum/BW2) so it's always a possibility.
