A Quarantine site, ravaged by the deadly P1N1- Pokémon influenza virus (Codenamed 'Pokérus') That has adapted to infect humanoids of all types, and also spread through dimensions to where pokemon may not exist.
A little bit of a wild guess, I admit, but I like to take risks (That is a blatent lie).

Uh, I'm just confirm that Hanky Basically got it. It's a town/city sort of deal with a river through it, and it will probably be where the adventure centers around.
Anyway, some important questions:
Who's started working on character sheets? I know at least three of you have.
Has everyone been able to connect to IRC? Any problems there?
Does everyone have some edition of Excel spreadsheet? I may be using that for the combat grid.
Also: For your characters, it might be an idea to have some sort of goal they'd like to achieve. You don't have to, but it will give me a possible plot hook/s for the adventure/s and aid roleplaying.

I've got Open Office, I think that'll work but you can never really be sure. Unfortunately, I've been rather busy this holiday season, so I haven't started on my sheet, sorry.

I have the basics, character name/race/class and stats. I don't really understand the rest of the sheet but that's the important stuff right?

That sounds like most of it, but it depends on what you're missing. Maybe you should link your sheet?DicksMcgee wrote:I have the basics, character name/race/class and stats. I don't really understand the rest of the sheet but that's the important stuff right?
In fact, everyone should probably do that when they're done.
I'm using mIRC for the bot.Hanky Panky wrote:get on my level, bitchesesssses

Yes
Ok, you're missing some important stuff but you're on the right track
It might be an idea to get on the channel, or make sure you've read my explanations.
You need your HP. Your HP will be the maximum value of your Hit Dice + Your Constitution Modifier. Your Hit Die is a D6, and your CON is +2, so you have 8 HP.
You also should put in your Saves. On the information about Rogue it should tell you what your Base Saves are at your Level (which is 1). Put them in the Base Save Column in your sheet.
Then you need to pick a feat, which is kinda tricky and depends on what you were wanting to do.
You also need to assign skills and buy equipment.

Link works. Hytheter's on irc right now if you want to ask him about the parts you're not sure about.
EDIT: He also seems to be waiting in the shadows in ninja garb.

I wanna kinda be a rogue that's good with people, if that helps me pick from the huuuuge list of feats.

There aren't a lot of social feats can think of. You could go Negotiator, or Skill Focus (Diplomacy) but I don't know if they're worth it.
I more meant what do you want to do combat-wise (as in, when negotiations fail you). Do you want to be stabby with daggers, or shooty with a bow? Or something else?

- Describtion:
- Physical Describtion:
Narar is a member of the Underfolk. His hair is of a dirty, Brown/Grey colour, similar to the colour of stone. His skin can change colour, usually to help him hide. Underfolk tend to be a bit smaller and lighter but Narar is short and light even when compared to other members of his race. He looks a bit malnourished but not enough that it'd be obvious while wearing he's clothes.
Cultural/Personal Describtion
Narar doesn't worship any god, though he is aware of a couple of them. He doesn't mind other people worshipping gods but he does mind it when people try to get him to worship a god.
Narar is very honest, even if he doesn't want to be. He feels that it might be better if he was a better liar but at the same time he just can't bring himself to lie properly.
Narar is able to speak Common (with an accent), Dwarven and Undercommon (the language of the Drow). He is able to write in Common, Dwarven and Undercommon though he prefers to write in Dwarven and he can thus recognize the Common, Dwarven and Elven alphabet, though he can obviously only understand what is written if it's written in the right language. He is able to understand Common without any problem, even if he has trouble speaking it without his accent, as well as Dwarven and Undercommon. He is able to read Common, Dwarven and Undercommon.
Narar doesn't trust people easily and tends to prefer keeping things to himself, though he has no problems accepting the help of others when he needs it. Narar is rather fearful, his fear being his main motivation. This does NOT mean he's scared easily, only that those things he DOES fear have a lot of influence on him.
Narar is Lawful Evil alignend.
Background
-Narar used to live in a "village" of the Underfolk, a Dwarven settlement wasn't too far away and it seems there were also some Drows living around the place
-When he was young he heard multiple scary stories about the undead and developed a rather strong fear of the undead
-Narar was a rather smart kid, which is why he learned to read and write, a skill not too common among the Underfolk
-Narars "village" was destroyed when he was about 17 years old. Narar wasn't in the town when it happened and it was already over by the time he returned.
-Narar was the only survivor of his "village"
-Narar spend the next few weaks burying the dead and after that he spend time scavenging his "village" for useful items and food
-During this time he found a few books that where hidden away in a place that only the village elders had been allowed to enter. These books were about magic including various dark arts.
-Narar was fascinated by it and begann to try and study it from the books.
-Narar decided to learn Necromancy, because he saw it as an option to fight his fear of the undead, since you don't need to fear that which you can control.
-Narar made himself a home in the ruins of his olf village
-Narar was able to trade with the Dwarves in order to feed himself
-A lot of time went by in which Narar studied Necromancy and tried to stay alive, avoiding the Drow and finding things he could either eat or trade for food
-This time caused Narar to focus more and more on his own survival and was what finally turned his previously neutral alignemt to Evil (I don't want to go too much into details but just believe that he clearly showed that he was willing to do evil in order to stay alive)
-As time went by Narar noticed that he became older and he started to worry about it
-One of the books, an old tome written in Drow and titled "The Undead" finally showed Narar a way to protect himself from death. The book included details on how to become a Lich, an undead creature that is VERY difficult to kill. This is how Narar became a Dread Necromancer.
-Narar realized that he wouldn't be able to become a Lich just by sitting around.
-Narar decided to leave the Underground and try to join a "party" of adventurers, hoping that, if he'd support them they'd protect him, so that he can learn what he needs to learn to become a Lich without dying first.
-Narar packed his stuff (A sack, his bedroll, an iron pot, his shovel, his clothes, his fathers skull (which he dug up as a reminder for himself), the book, some gold pieces and some minor items) and went to the Overworld
-There he first bouht himself some more items, including armor and a weapon
-Realizing he couldn't carry all this himself he hired someone to carry his stuff
Age:
0 - Birth
5 - Developed fear of the Undead
11 - Learned to read
15 - Became an adult
17 - Destruction of the village
18 - Discovery of the books
20 - Descision to learn Necromancy
30 - Fear of Age develops
31 - Becomes a (proper) Dread Necromancer
32 - Leaves the Underground to become a Lich (eventually)

Well Nelly if you wanna stab people your options are:
1. Take Weapon Finesse as your feat
2. Change your stats
I'd suggest the former.
Either way, I'd suggest carrying a Shortbow or Crossbow as well.

Re: Dungeons and Dragons at Pokemon Quarantine - Help and Signup - DungeonBot now active!!!
Hytheter, I had a question for you but I have to leave for a bit and you weren't on Mibbit, so I'll ask here.
- Question:
- The Feat Corpsecrafter has the benefit "Each undead you raise or create with any necromancy spell gains a +4 enhancement bonus to Strength and +2 hit points per Hit Die."
However, as a Dread Necromancer I gain an ability called Undead Mastery at level 8, which has the benefit "All undead creatures created by a dread necromancer who has reached 8th level or higher gain a +4 enhancement bonus to Strength and Dexterity and 2 additional hit points per Hit Die. In addition, when a dread necromancer uses the animate dead spell to create undead, she can control 4 + her Charisma bonus HD worth of undead creatures per class level (rather than the 4 HD per level normally granted by the spell).
Similarly, when a dread necromancer casts the control undead spell, the spell targets up to (2 + her Cha bonus) HD/level of undead creatures, rather than the 2 HD/level normally granted by the spell."
I just want to make sure, these two effects DO stack, right?

Re: Dungeons and Dragons at Pokemon Quarantine - Help and Signup - DungeonBot now active!!!
I resolved OJ's question, but I'm going to answer it again here so everyone knows. I'm also going to add it as a sidebar on the rules post at the start of the thread.
In general, Bonuses don't stack if:
- They come from the same source. You can't have multiple people cast Bull's Strength on you for a ridiculous amount of strength, because Bull's Strength counts as a single source.
- They have the same name. You'll notice many bonuses have a name, like Shield Bonus, Enhancement Bonus, Profane Bonus, Dodge Bonus, Morale Bonus etc. If two bonuses have the same name, they don't stack; use the higher value. Dodge and Luck bonuses are an exception. Also note that some things will increase a bonus rather than providing a new one. These stack.
Bonuses without a name always stack unless they're from the same source.
Everything else should stack. Your shield bonus, armor bonus, natural armor bonus, dodge bonus and unnamed bonus can all add to your AC.
Edit: updated the OP with the above, and also fixed an issue that I didn't realise existed. The steps for character creation are now labelled. I definitely typed them in before, but I think the colons I used in the spoiler headings fucked it up somehow. It should work properly now I've replaced them with dashes.
That must have been really unclear for everyone, not being able to know what each step was actually about until you pieced it together...

Re: Dungeons and Dragons at Pokemon Quarantine - Help and Signup - DungeonBot now active!!!
It depends on how you define comitted. We have three (to my knowledge) who've already started working on their sheets, and 4 others who have expressed interest. You still seem willing, and pD's only just jumped in. On the other hand, Hanky has explicitly said that he's only a maybe, and Spark seemed keen initially but hasn't been heard from in this thread for a while.Dregadude wrote:Well then, how many players do we have committed? So I guess the answer is... 5 or 6 maybe?

Yeah, what's wrong with it?
And yeah, I think we have three Sheets being worked on and two of them are already basically finished, too I think?
