I RESTARTED MY RESTARTED FILE BECAUSE I WANNA DO A WONDER TRADE CHALLENGE RUN.
[ACTUALLY BECAUSE SPARK HAS MY MAWILE THAT I WANTED TO USE IN THE SECOND PLAYTHROUGH, BUT I PROMISED HIM I WOULD LEAVE HIM ALONE ABOUT TRADING FOR AWHILE. THAT AND I'M ABOUT TO BE IN THE CAR FOR A FEW HOURS AND IT'LL BE  TOO LATE TO BOTHER GETTING IT BACK FOR THE PLAYTHROUGH LATER]

GOT LEDYBA, FERROSEED, FORTRESS, FLETCHLING, GOOMY, PICHU
ALL JAPANESE[except the fortress],
ALL LVL 1 [bar fortress and ledyba, levels 30 and 8]
ALL FEMALE [except ferroseed]
WHY EVEN
not too bad, just terribly unbalanced. and an enormous pain to get off the ground.

viola, your gym was wiped by a level 10 ferroseed, how does this make you feel?
grant was gyro ball'd and then dragon breath'd to death.

i was pretty bummed to get stuck with ledyba at first, but it turns out this this thing has an AWESOME support movepool. it learns Light Screen, Protect, and Safeguard all at level 14.
you know. because a team whose cores are ferrothorn and goodra totally needs extra defensive powers.
if only its attack weren't beyond unusable.

BRAVE FERROSEED IS SO GREAT. IT'S ONLY GOT 10 SPEED AT LEVEL 28 AND GYRO BALL DESTROYS EVERYTHING.
i'm more than a little pissed that i deleted leech seed without knowing it was an egg-only move.

goomy learns a great variety of moves in its early levels, but it's just so weaaaaak. who thought it was a good idea to make it evolve at level 40?

fletchling is preforming as well as expected. she's like my only real attacker on this team.

pikachu is sooo fraaillll. but Nasty Plot is cool.
also it's perfectly IV'd in everything but atk and spd, which isn't an issue because it's timid.

haven't touched fortress because levels. also because i have an eternal grudge against fortress.

gog DAMN the statuses are running rampant in this playthrough. pikachu's static and goomy's dragonbreath paralyzes things about 80% of the time, and fletchinder burns with ember far more often than it should. on the other side of things, my pokemon have spent 3-4 consecutive turns fully paralyzed on more than one occasion.

You know the Move Relearner will reteach Egg Moves, right? And Goomy is a relatively late-game Pokémon and a pseudo-legendary to boot; I'd be more surprised if it evolved early.

i'm not expecting "early" evolution, but 40 is a bit ridiculous. dratini's respectable, evolving at lv. 30, gible earlier at 24, and beldum on par with normal pokemon at 20. ...and then there's deino, who doesn't evolve until lvl 50. if you don't evolve until lv35+, you are annoying to raise.
i get it's usually available at a much more respectable level, but at the same time, it only spends 10 levels in its middle form.

Yeah, the only caveat about the Move Relearner and Egg Moves is that you can only have Pokémon relearn Egg Moves they once knew, but in this case that's not an obstacle. And Beldum is ridiculously hard to get in the first place, so making it difficult to evolve would just be cruel. You also forgot Bagon: level 30 like Dratini.

leech seed is one of the best moves that ferrothorn/ferroseed can have. seriously. it makes ferrothorn stall ridiculous.

@HP: i know. it just tends to make things take longer than they should early-game.
edit: after battling you and a random dude, i am officially 5000% done with ferrothorn.

Yeah, Pikachu is indeed sadly very weak.

I admit, I dislike how late some Pokemons evolve, though isn't training easier this gen because of the exp all thing?

What's your issue with fortress?

pikachu learns nothing i'm interested in after thunderbolt. it's already got nasty plot and nuzzle; the only thing i'm waiting for now is a Grass Knot TM.

yes, but like all first-stage pseudo-legendaries, goomy is kind of pathetic and takes too long to kill things.
my issue with fortress is that it was among the first pokemon i faced online. do you have any idea how infuriating it is trying to take it down without knowing about stats or its weaknesses? i spent all match switching my pokemon around trying to figure out what could damage the thing. on top of stealth rock and multiple layers of spikes and toxic spikes that it had set up. those beady little eyes  are taunting me >:[

So I start fighting the champion after having a little trouble with some members of the elite four, and for the first 3 rounds, what happened but "Eoin gave you special defense up level 2", and "Shoe used HP restore level 2". It was a very DBZ/anime like 'Give me all your energy!' moment, and I've just beat her with only 1 casualty. Thanks dudes!

Goodra is a tank, plain and simple.

Yup. Fairly plain specially defensive tank with a handy bit of firepower and kinda tanky abilities. It's like an alt-universe dragonite.

Incidentally, just nabbed a flawless Calm FEMALE (1/8 chance) Serene Grace Togepi after hatching on-off for a week. So what should I do:

Call it Tachi, train it immediately, hurt dragons
Or
Call it Tachi and throw it in the daycare for a while with one of its 5-stated wrong-natured uncles for a 1-in-6 chance of a Tachi clone, rinse and repeat?

I haven't really used O-Powers that much? And since I'm only online sporadically, nobody's really had much of an opportunity to give them to me.

Hatching, Bargaining, EXP, Prize money and befriending powers: don't know where i'd be without them

OH MY BEJEEZUS.

I was fighting this girl online, it was an intense fight, mons were dropping everywhere, tactical switching all over the place, eventually it was my pidgeot vs her gourgeist, every time she phantom forced I could fly to avoid and hit her with my superior speed. I hit her so she has literally 1 HP left, it was in the bag... And she Ragequits. Almost had my first online win ever with my team after being pummeled into the ground continuously by friends, and it doesn't even count! BLARGH BLUH HUGE BAD SPORT.

W/e I'm just venting here, I didn't realise ragequitting was a common practice in pokemon. I wouldn't mind as much either, but she challenged me.
