Re: Pokemon general chat: Pokemon for breakfast?
Oh yeah, I did a lot of Join Avenue too. I had them calling me Drega-sama. I found all the formulaic, robotic, predictable scripts of conversations absolutely hilarious.
BOINGBOING Janice! My favorite store is over there. Would you like to have a look?
larugoiafk.
Janice. Lucky * Alver is "Pitpat."
Janice arrived at Lucky * Alver!
As recommended, this store is very nice!
Lucky * Alver gained 173 points!
BOINGBOING Janice! My favorite store is over there. Would you like to have a look?
...Maybe later.
The funny part is, that all makes perfect sense to me now.

- Spoiler:
Napoleon
brought to you by tumblr.
also from tumblr,
i'm not posting in the news thread because this isn't really anything. someone said it was of the mega-evos-to-be, but that's prolly not it since several of the already-revealed ones aren't there. anyone know what this is?

"List of Pokemon I like from all previous gens"?
Maybe this guy has a thing for starters.
Also, I will be praying that there is no Mega Haxorus. Many Gen V Pokemon are already OU enough, thank you.

The captions above the table just say "Region" and "Pokémon on hand"/"Pokémon (so-and-so/such-and-such) has".
Waaaaaay above that in teeeeeeny tiny text I can make out what appears to be the phrase "cereal sticker" with some kanji that are too small to read in front of that. So I'm guessing these Pokémon are cereal prizes or something? That's my best guess.

Re: Pokemon general chat: Pokemon for breakfast?
I'm pretty sure the Pokémon aren't marshmallows, guys. If I interpreted it right and they're really "cereal stickers" I'm pretty sure they'd literally be a sheet of stickers neatly sequestered away from the actual cereal in some manner.

Re: Pokemon general chat: Pokemon for breakfast?
are there actual names for "so and so"?variegatedDreamraptor wrote:The captions above the table just say "Region" and "Pokémon on hand"/"Pokémon (so-and-so/such-and-such) has".
because if not, my IDE is that these are the teams of your group of five friends.
i am really really hoping that's what this is now.

Re: Pokemon general chat: Pokemon for breakfast?
I think the way you say "so-and-so" is just the same word as "somebody" (dareka) or maybe daredare depending on the context.
In this case, it didn't literally say that; I just put that there because you can't sensibly say things about a noun in English without even a pronoun, but it's pretty common to do that in Japanese, so all the heading said was "Temochi Pokémon" ("Pokémon that are had/held").

Wow, I thought that thing died for good ages ago. Nice to see it's back, even if it is only temporarily.

I think I learned more about biology and culture from that column than from any class in school

Yeah, that's the only place I've ever learned about Japanese mythology. Really interesting stuff.

Speaking of science, all you kids in physics classes just remember that acceleration is linear, not exponential.

Re: Pokemon general chat: Pokemon for breakfast?
i would so love some place where aceleration was exponential and terminal velocity was mach 2
Re: Pokemon general chat: Pokemon for breakfast?
Terminal velocity depends on your drag. And acceleration couldn't be truly exponential; eventually you'll approach the speed of light, so your acceleration will have to decrease, meaning the best approximation you'll get will be logistic growth instead.

Re: Pokemon general chat: Pokemon for breakfast?
sorry i fucked up and forgot to multiply drag by a constant so it was too small
its just under mach 1 like if g is 9.8 and you do .5 times a to the x the final velocity is 336
