It was unusually slow for me - high server load, I imagine. Chill; the video wasn't actually all that interesting.

Robin/Avatar uses a ziggy zaggy sword and a thundery spell book though. So that's cool.

I could not be less impressed with Lucina. Seriously there's nothing wrong with costumes D:


Do you guys think Wario will be in it? He was unique in Brawl and I'll miss him if he goes.
Ganondorf? I wouldn't honestly mind if he goes because his Brawl incarnation was a travesty. If they want to do him, do him right!

And Wario is great and everybody loves him so he's in too
Ganondorf is prolly getting reworked tho. I'm guessing he'll be the most changed character even!

EDIT: Robin isn't fighting Chrom. He's fighting WITH Chrom
Chrom is Robin's final smash. Look at the flashy animation better, it's pretty clearly a set animation, the way Robin moves and floats around going to the foreground and background makes it obvious. Chrom is not playable.

inb4 carbon copy of Brawl's Ganondorf. Betcha there's no changes. But how can you say Robin looks fun when she... uses all of Marth's moves? Marth is fun, granted, but??? It was TOTALLY his dancing blade move she was using. Identical.

And anyway, there's a history of not having villains in Smash. Bowser's kinda the exception because he's... the same, always? Ganondorf gets a lot of use but it's not as consistent. And if you took Ganondorf out of smash, you technically wouldn't lose anything. He's a sub-part Falcon reskin. Better quality than quantity, IMO. If he is in it, I hope they change his moveset/style COMPLETELY. Like, beast moves, and magic, and massive weapons, and not just his flashy purple limb-hits.

Edit: Actually, I'm inclined to agree, having played the video with sound: That was definitely the smash ball use sound that played when Chrom appeared, so yeah, sure, final Smash. I'm fine with that though. Like I said: Swords bleehhhhhh. Still hope Lucina's a costume for the same reason, unless *somehow* she plays drastically different. Did she have any interesting skills ingame? Like, umm, time powers, or blasty things? Pet dragons? No?

Edit edit: I'm well aware that Lucina has her own intro page on the Smash site (sorry  iT) but this is the first game where we've really had notably different costume changes, to the point of being new characters - mostly male/female Villager and Wii-fit trainer, and though they do play the same, they are definitely different *people*. Who's to say that Lucina, what with her having her own personality and such, (as opposed to WiiFit and Villager) that with the new gen this is considered an technical new player? I mean, as a costume change she'd STILL be a new character to play as. And it wouldn't count as either a clone or a new character slot unfairly taken. It also reminds me of that weirdly significant Dark Pit appearance at the end of Palutena's reveal... what if he gets the same treatment (i.e identical moves and selection box, but "considered" as another character to play as, with different voice acting. I could see this happening.
(apparently Lucina even has Marth's Aerials and taunts. Go figure.)

Yeah, but the Gym Leaders and Elite 4 are still getting 2D art instead of models for battles (and let's face it, Sidney needs a model). Also, I am so glad that crappy Smash Bros. leak is fake. What would the Chorus Men even have done as fighters?

Although everything but HP is increased, Mega Metagross apparently gets a substantial boost to Speed. As if Tough Claws wasn't going to make it terrifying enough.

Secret Bases have added some Join Avenue-style functions in the mix.

Zangoose and Seviper are resuming their previous roles as version exclusives.

lucina will probably replace marth for this go-around, to draw in the kids who are jonesing for more fire emblem awakening goodness.

robin's zig-zag sword is called a levin sword and it's a way for sword wielders to have a ranged attack. in older games, damage scaled off of strength for it, but with the advent of having both strength and magic stats for every character (because that's actually important when you can reclass infinitely), it scales from magic. meaning that even if your swordmaster character can use it, it may not hit very hard.

i doubt that we'll see any more fire emblem characters as full-fledged fighters in smash bros 4 though.

that being said, i don't see how they'll make the movesets different. lucina was basically a stand-in for marth in awakening.
