Pokemon news discussion 2: Spoiler Tag Boogaloo

Heh, pretty close.

My opinions were:
- Not that bad
- Disapointing
- Not all that exciting (but not all that bad)
- Sort of neat I guess
- Favourite fairy type in this gen so far
- Not excited
- Redeemed

Drought, Snow warning et al only last 5 turns!!!!!!! weather teams are now officially balanced!!!! we can run non weather teams again, yay!

Battle support!

6 on 6 multiple item flat battle rules!! Might not be over all mediums, but it exists and that's the main thing!

Nerf stealth rock and don't do anything stupid and this could be my favourite gen!! (Sorry about bug and psychic though )

P.S was the fairy type flabebe :0 or related to flabebe, but don't tell me that, just wondering! Evolution or not flabebe is adorable.

Well, don't worry. If or when you get Wi-Fi I'll battle you in gen 5 anyway for old time's sake ^^

By the by, lately this thread has been an awful lot of news and very little discussion. Hmmmm.

Let's discuss then:

When you get the new game, will you make a regular run first or will you try a special run right away?

Not knowing what pokemon I'll end up with kinda is a special run, for me anyway. I thought about a Nuzlocke, but it would'nt work because I'd be stopped from using cool new Pokemon. Likewise for any other major gimmick. If the next set of games is an XY sequel like BW2 was I'll do it there though. If it's an RS one... We'll see.
Incidentally, I do see the next one as being an RS or entirely new game; reviews have already reported lag and stuttering caused by the massive region, adding to it will only make it worse. Whereas having a new thing the same size as kalos circumvents this problem. Mind you, it could be that GF just aren't very good at memory usage, having not have to worry about it since GSC. The tile-layout really does hold it back.

I'm still not sure what to do about my team. Chespin, Flabebe, Skrelp, Bunnelby, Helioptile and ?????? It seems a shame not to have a mega in there somewhere, but I'll need a flier. Helioptile and Bunnelby aren't hugely important, especially if they under perform early on, then I'll swap them out, but this is a good gen to have a normal type or two. I'd quite like an Absol but they might only be around in the late-game... Hmmph.

Well, you'll need your second starter from Oak, and Charizard Megavolves and learns Fly. That's three right there.

If you really need a flyer, I think Charizard would be a good choice, you'll get one of the starters after all. Other then it your only choice would be Fletchling as far as we know (yet).

Pffft like I'm going to use a kanto starter, let alone a Charizard! Let alone a Charizard with Fly in Y! I'm a Venusaur man anyway and I don't want to double up on grass starters. Plus... Eh. Venusaur's cool but there's a dozen other pokemon I'd want to use, some of which get Megas, like Absol.

Well, as I said, if you need a flyer, it seems like one of the best choices so far. And I'm totally a Venusaur man, too, but since you don't want to take two grass starters, why not take Charizard so that you have something decent to fly you around?

Or Noivern. Probably Yveltal too.

Well, it's not like my flyers can't be Pidgeot or Dodrio or one of the other presumably many birds in the game. It's not really an issue, it's just... I want a 7 Mon team because I need a flier now

Why aren't leakers interested in mechanics? First thing I'd do is try to see what's changed. C'mon life orb sheer force, stealth rock and hidden power!
Since I'm not browsing spoiler tags, HAVE there been any new moves (not double typed) or mechanics changes that I don't know about? Or in-battle effect items? There was a mention in a smogon thread about ability-changing items...
