General Chat: The Smashening

Chrom seems more likely as part of Robin's final smash due to the... unusual animation of Robin in the trailer when Chrom appears. It's really not something that could be controlled by a player, meaning it has to be all one big attack, meaning that... Either it's his final smash or they somehow managed to time an assist trophy perfectly with Robin's FS despite there being nobody else there.

Also, on Lucina... She's a clone. Well, kinda-- She's kind of a Toon Link to Marth's Link. Meaning that while their moves are all pretty similar, their stats differ, with Lucina appearing to be a bit shorter, even faster, some of their moves differing in use a bit... And instead of the damage being higher the closer to the tip of the sword you are like Marth, it's the same across the entire blade.
That's why she has a separate slot in the roster, too-- She has differences to Marth, even if subtle ones. Sakurai clarified it all this morning.

Marth was one of my mains in Brawl, but I think I'm going to end up playing Lucina a bit more if she's a lighter, faster, more consistent Marth. I'll have to test her out and see what the differences are.

I LITERALLY JUST COMPLETED IT TOO! I mean, I haven't been going for Kalos native, but it's complete.

But yeah literally just hatched a Bonsly. He was my last needed Pokemon.

So that's a full dex, guys? Well done! Unless I'm misunderstanding and it's just Kalos mons, but that's also deserving of a well done. So well done.

(Blehhh Lucina Blehhh. How different can she really end up being? Sorry, but actual, dedicated clones [and it sounds like she will be a clone] are definitely a waste on a roster, even if they give more flexibility to people who main the cloned character. Even Falco and Lucas are arguably less clone-y than what Lucina may end up as; they had special moves that act as projectiles which do act very differently. Whereas Lucina's confirmed to have the same moves but with a more balanced set of hitboxes and marginally different movement speed. Prior to now I was feeling confident in the Smash roster since they seemed to be aiming for diversity.

And I think I would politely disagree with the idea that Link and T.Link are real clones. They have the same mechanics behind their moves, [unfortunately!] but they play exceedingly differently. Largely due to the vastly different heights and weights. Lucina can't claim that! Also some people want Toon Link gone because the real link is enough; do these people even play LoZ?? There really ARE two Links! The timeline split after OoT and they've had equal coverage since! There's no "real link" and "cartoon version link". They're just both the real Link under different art styles. If TL is a clone he's one I can understand - though I do wish the movepool was a bit different. Copying final smashes sucks too.)


wow those were long parentheses. Anyway in updated news, the debate over Aegislash rages on on the Smogon Forums and IRC. It seems incredibly close... very scary verdict; the backlash will be *insane* if they deem it banworthy. Like, worse than Garchomp-era insane.

i think i have like 60 pokemon from the kalos dexes in all my games combined so as you can clearly see i am such a master at the gotta catch em all

Full kalos dexes, yeah. I have received moltres and articuno from two awesome people, and am currently leveling up a yanma i caught.

I mean the Kalos dex, dee. I have the oval charm now! So whoo, breeding's gonna be quicker.

I'm now shooting for the national dex. Which reminds me, there's several Pokemon that I have absolutely no way of obtaining bar trading/pokemon bank. If you have any of these, please let me know! I'd ideally like a hatched version for the non legends so I can train it up and own my own version of that Pokemon. For legendaries though, I really don't care. A quick trade over and trade back is all I need. Here's the list:

Sorry, he doesn't have the best IVs (Attack and SpDef) or nature (Calm) due to being randomly encountered in the Friend Safari...

Oh, I dunno. Calm natures are used on Vaporeon and Clerical Sylveon; they're pretty good.

I do love me some clerics. Physical sweepers tend to hate burn, so a Heal Beller is really useful.

True, but seeing them is just as easy as catching them imo. I mean there's several that you cant see ingame, and that you need to breed anyway. So you may as well do the full dex completion.

Actually, seeing is a lot easier, since trainer pokemon count as seen, too. At least as far as I know.

...Btw guys just wanna point out that they revealed what the deal is with the Levin sword/Bronze sword thing.

You activate the Levin sword by using smash attacks (Which Robin can apparently do in midair???) and it's obviously stronger than the Bronze sword. After using it for some time though, it breaks and you have to use the Bronze sword again until some time passes again for it to recover.
