What Hoenn starter are you picking?
Re: General chat: Talk about literally anything because you do anyway.
Oh boy, a gimmik? Sheesh, I'd have to think about that one...
[edit]Does using a combination of Baton Pass/Stored Power count as a gimmik?[/edit]
On that note, I currently have internet access on my 3DS (because I'm visiting my parents) and I wanted to ask if one of you'd happen to have a (preferably female) Yamask or Cofagrigus? Or a Bulbasaur.

Bulbasaur? Yes lots. Yamask, not so much. If you see me online hit me up for a trade, last I remember my Bulbasaur were either Adamant or Relaxed with random decent stats. My D-who is pretty awesome and has sired a lot of awesome kids (Tangrowth, Tyranitar)
Baton Pass is a completely valid strategy and will probably make you be one of the Elite Four, possibly even the last one. Assuming you've got Espeon and Scolipede anyway. Not much point in making a BP team without them, they're too good not to use. (Speed Boost, decent attack power/resistances and Iron Defense; STAB Stored Power and Magic Bounce)

Re: General chat: Talk about literally anything because you do anyway.
I figured both Espeon and Togekiss, since they both get both Stored Power and Baton Pass.
Also, is Double Team too evil for Baton Pass?
As for the stat boosts, Scolipede can have Iron Defense, Swords Dance, Agility and of course has Speed Boost (Which makes Agility a bit moot), Togekiss can have Nasty Plot, Espeon can have Calm Mind and could also have Curse (Though I don't like that one too much) and everyone could have Double Team and Substitude.
So, if I am a member of the Elite Four, how many Pokemons should be on my team?
EDIT: Oh yeah, and what would you like for the Bulbasaur?

Re: General chat: Talk about literally anything because you do anyway.
Doesn't matter, I basically have everything. Just hold your boat until we know I can actually trade something... I'm 90% sure I have some bulbasaur in Bank. Hope I'm not wrong!
At the moment, Baton Pass teams are the focus of a ban discussion over in Smogon. While they can be broken by very specific moves, that's kinda the point, and none of those moves are foolproof. For example, Roar is blocked by Mr.Mime, Espeon, or anything with Ingrain. They don't currently know how to go about nerfing it though; discussion floats between a complex ban of Espeon + Baton Pass, Magic Bounce + Baton Pass, and all sorts of other things. By the raw definition it really is broken, it's just... nobody really uses it because it's so boring. You lead the same way for every single match and perform the same moves depending on what you're facing, and all full BP teams are more or less the same. Apparently it was also broken in gen 5, but that was in the midst of the weather wars so nobody noticed, lol.
Typically Espeon goes for Baton Pass, Morning Sun/Substitute, Dazzling Gleam, and Stored Power. It doesn't outright boost because that's what the team is supposed to do, and THEN you pass to Espeon. Who is terrifying with STAB infinite Stored Powers, full offensive, defensive and speed boosts, and immunity to status and phazing moves. Scolipede is used as a handy lead a momentum-getter, after a quick Iron Defense you now have +3 overall and has decent synergy with Espeon. Vaporeon has Wish and Baton Pass and Subsitute and Aqua Ring and Acid Armor, so it's used a lot for that. Mega Scizor has 3 boosting moves, roost and a powerful Bullet Punch, which takes down Unaware Clefable. Mr.Mime has soundproof and Calm Mind, with Substitute. Note that Substitute can't be passed through with sound moves since Mr.Mime is immune to them, and also, Fairy is immune to Dragon Tail. Mandatory. Nobody uses curse, and obviously nobody uses Double Team - which is an entirely different team style itself. That can be an annoying rival's gimmick. To be honest, it's a full team of 6, but there's no choice involved. Having a baton pass team means committing to a single archetype.
On the six move thing:

Actually, how about this for a team? Octillery, Omastar, and Malamar. I hope the idea behind it is obvious.

Maybe for your character, but not mine. The Eeveelutions kind of irritate me because of all of the hype surrounding them.

That's simple, Spark needs a counterpart with equal love for the Eeveelutions. Now, if you could only find one person like that.

Re: General chat: Talk about literally anything because you do anyway.
or it could be a rotating team depending on who you chose as a starter so in a single play you wouldnt see all eight but if you replayed with different starters than you would
Re: General chat: Talk about literally anything because you do anyway.
but that's basically pokemon yellow
anyway, i don't think that having only eeveeloutions is a good rival theme.

Re: General chat: Talk about literally anything because you do anyway.
I was talking to Gelatino today and since he apparently has a habit of making and abandoning forums I asked him if the Quarantine was the biggest. He said that we're first in posts, but in second place by 13 users to this forum.
Our duty is clear. We must find 14 friends and drag them here. Only then can ours be the most glorious of Gela's internet babies.

Well of course we're first in posts. Nobody could hope to match our output. And why don't we get Gelatino to advertise the Quarantine on that other forum?

Well, we'll just drag him back here. Maybe only long enough to make HP an admin, just in case something really weird comes up.

http://sim.smogon.com:8080/Stats/2014-04/ou-1760.0.txt
Usage stats are out for April. Nice to see the tiers are levelling out; back in Feb or whatever Aegislash was on 26% of all teams and Rotom-W was on 27%. Now Aegislash is the most used at 24%, followed by Charizard at 16%. That's a pretty diverse meta, all things considered. I mean, there really isn't anything that can fill all (or any) of the niches that Aegislash does, so it makes sense that it's so high. It can do SO. MUCH. Does anyone remember what percentage the OU cutoff is? I'm sure Donphan isn't OU but after that things get a bit blurry.
I like this generation. It's fun. Even if Landorus and Deoxys are a pain and Knock Off is everywhere. And also the fact that Defog is basically impossible to get :/ (c'mon tutors!!)
Edit: Oh yeah and the mega usage. Wish they included "no megas" there, my team doesn't happen to use one and it's pretty good. In a meta without a lot of legends, anyway. http://sim.smogon.com:8080/Stats/2014-04/mega/ou.txt
