If both were guaranteed to happen in sequence, which would you rather have released next?
Re: Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon: Spoilers ahoy ☀
Dude, you are an insanely-talented artist.
- Spoiler:
- Mimikyu reminds me of Puella Magi Madoka Magicka for some reason, but I'll still probably try to use one anyways. I honestly think it's a better name than Pikaboo, because the idea is that it's mimicking what it perceives to be the most popular, which only happens to be Pikachu, but obviously you're free to nickname it whatever you like. Assuming the censors don't pull a stupid like in XY. I do have to agree that Bewear is a fantastic name; I just wish the design looked a little more... Pokémon-ish? Something about it just doesn't look right. I don't know if it's just me, but Bounsweet looks very generic both visually and competitively. Fortunately, I don't really need one, since I'm already pretty much set on Rowlet, which takes care of my Grass-type. Comfey strikes me as a hybrid between Klefki and Flabébé; apparently a lot of people are getting excited because it's a lei. Mudsdale (which I just noticed I forgot the name of in my earlier post) really doesn't appeal to me; I don't really like horses, and I don't like dreadlocks, so the two together are just a bad combination. It looks like it'll be a pretty good physical wall, but I'll still give it a pass.

Oh man, that picture didn't load for me, if you hadn't meantion it cA I would have missed it
- As for the Spoilers:
- I like that e finally have a Water/Bug and Horseshoecrabs are great, but I really hate that ability and I am thus on the fence about Wimpod. The Grass and the Fairy type both seem incredibly boring to me, the weird bear is too weird for my taste, Mimikyu is adorable and I am tempted to put it on my team and Mudsdale looks great and I might actually want to use it.
I am very unsure how I feel about the Hypertraining, improving IVs is both tempting AND something I feel shouldn't be possible. It's like MtG cards that get you cards back from the exile, tempting but it shouldn't happen, it's ruining the point of the exile. If IVs are a pokemons genetic stuff, there should be no way to increase it via training. On the other hand, breeding for IVs is a PAIN IN THE ASS, ESPECIALLY if it's one of the genderless mons for example.

- Spoiler:
- gonna keep this short 'cause i'm fuckin' sleepy
bounsweet's life is pure misery
comfey is Boring to me
mudsdale seems strong but the design doesn't particularly appeal to me
wimpod is Pretty Rad (also. bug water. ayy)
bewear is a lot better now than when it was leaked (jesus its horrifying)
mimikyu is beautiful and im catching one
hyper training t h a n k y o u because natures are already enough unchangeable genetics in our pokémon
tho now i wonder if one's characteristic will change after hyper training or nah

So I'm super excited because I just got a new laptop. The old one had been having some issues, such as the wifi adapter breaking whenever you moved the laptop, so it's definitely nice to have one that works as intended. Plus I sprang for a dedicated graphics card and solid-state drive this time.

Good for you cA, a well working computer is important
- Reply to Sparks spoiler:
- Where did you get info on Bounsweets life?
Bewear in incredibly aweful in my opinion. Someone pointed out that it looks more like a mascot suit then like a living being, so now I hate it even more then I already did.
I am still split on hyper training. A Pokemons nature obviously isn't genetics, it's personality. You CAN pass on a nature via breeding, but unless you use an everstone, it isn't passed on, so clearly, it's not something that is normally passed on from the parent to the child. IVs always come in part from the parents, so clearly, IVs are the pokemon equivalent to genetics, which means they are introducing a way to improve your genetics via training, which, as I said before, is helpful, since breeding for IVs is hella annoying, but also makes no sense in game and somehat defeats the point of breeding for IVs in general, though perhaps getting those bottlecaps or wwwhatever you needed for IV training will be difficult enough to counter balance that. Though if it IS difficult enough to counter balance it, that would mean that Hypertraining is nearly useless, hich makes it basically pointless again.
As you can see, I can't decide whether I love it or hate it.

Re: Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon: Spoilers ahoy ☀
- Spoiler:
- genetics or not, it's still set in stone bullshit that goes against pokémon's entire message
ivs being able to being improved on is a great change that actually makes sense with the entire message of the games - that all pokémon can be good and useful. there's no "whoops you're just a naturally worse pokémon than this other one of the same species" anymore, which was always Actual Bullshit
also - read the official sun and moon site. it always has descriptions of the revealed ones, bounsweet included

Re: Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon: Spoilers ahoy ☀
There is an official Sun and Moon site? Can I get a link to that?
- As for the spoiler:
- I never got that message from Pokemon? The message was always one of human interaction, which is why the game came in different versions
Plus, I don't see how it is bullshit, it makes sense to me that not every mon is equally good at the same thing, even if they are of the same species. The fact that competitive players only want the best of the best, well, can't blame them for that. And in game, IVs barely matter.
Plus, again, if Hypertraining is easily available, it kind of ruins the point of most breeding? Breeding for moves is hilariously easy, unless they add more that require chainbreeding, and even that isn't hard, breeding for dex completion only matters on mons with a baby form or multiple evolutions, like eevee and breeding for shineys would be the only remaining reason to breed a lot. So IV breeding is really the primary reason to breed a lot.
And if it ISN'T somewhat easily available, well, that kind of makes hypertraining pointless, doesn't it? I mean, if, for example, you get a limited number of those bottlecaps per playthrough, that'd certainly limit the usage of hypertraining, but at that point, hypertraining itself has become kind of bullshit, right?

- Spoiler:
- nnnno? "human interaction" is not the message. that's smth the games promote thanks to the way they're made, but the thing the dialogue and the world always tries to sell to you is that all pokémon are great and training is all you need to be good
i wouldn't mind it if it was an actual specialization thing, some pokémon have better defense, some better attack, but every pokémon still is good at its own thing. but no, ivs make it so some pokémon are factually better than others - if this one has 31 ivs all across the board and the other has 0, then it's just Flat Out Weaker in every single stat.
natures and evs already make sure pokémon can be different in-game. ivs do too, but now, keeping with pokémon's message, they can be improved on! because training is all you need now go be the very best yadda yadda yadda yadda
also, on breeding - who the fuck cares? like, SERIOUSLY. i do not give a single shit if hypertraining makes it so breeding isn't something you have to continuously do to get good pokémon, that's the WHOLE POINT of introducing a new mechanic! the single reason i don't play more pokemon and get more cool teams to battle around is because it's way too much of a hassle to breed good pokémon.
i HOPE breeding is unnecessary - honestly, i'm holding onto hope that bottlecaps will be as common as heart scales at least, tho i doubt that. it'd make my day though

Re: Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon: Spoilers ahoy ☀
Thanks for the link!
- Spoiler:
- I see what you meant about the grass type now, poor thing.
Being great and usable isn't the same as being the best possible at what you do, plus, again, IVs are completly unimportant ingame. I think you are confusing "anyone can be useful" with "anyone can be the best", the first is true, the second simply isn't, some people DO have an inherent advantage on certain things and, assumning they put as much effort into improving themself as you, they will always be better then you. I see no reason why Pokemon shouldn't work the same.
And I understand not everyone enjoys breeding but I do, which is why I am not sure how to feel about something that will possibly make another thing I enjoy about Pokemon pointless. So yeah, who cares? Me, obviously, as do some others.

Re: Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon: Spoilers ahoy ☀
Heheh whoops! I've already forgotten how far we were along on the spreadsheet.
So, basically, everybody who is participating (which is a fairly nebulous venn diagram at this point) votes on a power for each person. They can vote for powers they've submitted, but they can't vote in the vote for the power they'll get. It'd be nice if everybody had 3 powers to vote between? Though I'm biased since I only have 2 :V And it's perfectly feasible that our 3-power people might get a 4th with further discussion. So I guess it's really about where you want to draw the line on "ready to vote!" To avoid vote related delays, we could weight votes, again on contribution - just so that it might be easier to get a clear winner, instead of waiting a month for a bunch of voters to log in. That's part of the other side of the problem; if we don't do the voting all in one go, that's a LOT of people we'll be waiting on a whole bunch of times. It'd be easier just to say "I am X and these are my votes", instead of each person probably having to make several posts again across several days or weeks.
Man this would be a millionty times easier IRL!
So I dunno what everyone wants to do. If anyone is thinking "nah, I'm okay if people vote on my powers as they are", then they can say that. And if they're particularly insistent that we do a vote immediately, then yeah, they can say that too?
tl;dr draw a line, declare finished, vote on other power sets
-------------------------------------
aside because I feel like bringing it up! I nearly bought a house last week :V IKR? Don't get me wrong, that's not normal here or anything, yeah it's likely exactly as "wait what really?" as it would be in most other first world countries - we've actually got a housing crisis ATM, though it's mostly confined to Dublin, which I'm not in. But yeah! I've been looking to fly the coop for a while, but unlike everyone else I know, I don't want to do it via renting because that is such a money sink long-term. And I've always wanted to own. I've been saving pretty hard for a while and could put a 20% deposit on some of the cheaper houses in good areas in the closest city, (as a first time buyer I'd only need 10%, which is a nice benchmark to have passed) and would have a very manageable mortgage. But I had never really given much thought as to how quickly it would happen when the right house came along. I told myself "no longer than 3 years, tops, then I'm gone" since everyone else was telling me how mad (read: shockingly unlikely) it is to own a house in your twenties. But then my mom greeted me with a "oh hey I found a house for you" last week, and I could totally do it? Especially if I can rent out some rooms. I'd hardly have a mortgage to speak of if I could rent two. And honestly if I can't, that's not a big deal.
But it's all moving a little fast for me r/n and I figure it'd be really, really foolish to buy a house before I've even had my first yearly review at work. After February, though... then we'll see!
I'm also baking cookies for a movie night and doing an escape room with my friends tomorrow. Because those things are probably easier to talk about :V

Maybe, when OJ gets time, he could suggest powers for iT? And likewise vice versa? And maybe throw Ness in there because everybody loves odd numbers, like in flower arrangements? You could be the new flower arrangement?
((In this metaphor iT is a beyootiful peonie and OJ is a sunflower because of srs rsns. Ness is freshly ground wheat because im hungry and enjoy bad puns.))

Wait I totally did one for iT
And I really really will work on this more I swear I'm just finishing up my internship so I've been running around a lot.
Personally I'd like to have a few more for everyone before we start voting, just for more excitement!

Re: Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon: Spoilers ahoy ☀
Dammit, looks like that leak was right.
- Spoiler:
- Z moves seem a little gimmicky, but you can only use them once per battle, so whatever. I'm guessing Solar Blade is a physical counterpart to Solar Beam.
I'm not a huge fan of the Alolan forms. It just seems like yet another way for them to cop out and turn old Pokémon "new" without actually having to come up with new species. I saw a leak mentioning them, but I didn't give it much credit; if I recall correctly, we'll also be able to expect a Water-type Growlithe. I'm also not sure why four out of the five we saw ended up being Ice-types in a tropical region. It also looks like the leak was correct that there won't be any Gyms, a tad ironic considering it's one of the few concepts Pokémon GO actually managed to integrate.
Is GameFreak determined to mock Donald Trump, because the resemblance between him and Gumshoos is even stronger than it was with Yungoos. I do really like Oricorio for some reason, although if I do end up going with Rowlet, I probably won't have room on my team for one; I wonder if it'll evolve from Pikipek. I would have expected Formantis and Lurantis to be part Bug, since they're clearly based off mantises, but they're still neat just the same; once again, Rowlet will probably make them redundant for my team. Minior seems kind of interesting, but it looks like it could go gimmicky very easily; here's hoping it's actually somewhat decent. Mudbray... exists; it's an earlier form of a Pokémon I already didn't care about that much.

- Spoiler:
- The ice types are actually explained in the site - they migrated to the cold mountains thanks to eruptions and the species native to Alola.
I LOVE LURANTIS!!! Mudbray is eh. Minior is weird, Oricorio is cool, and... holy shit gumshoos.
Riding Pokémon is awesome!
Alolan forms... depends for me. I really really hope they don't just keep giving them to fuckin' gen 1 mons, give the other gens some love please!
Z-Moves are rad.
And... okay, putting this into a double spoiler because it's a sorta leak.- double spoiler all the way across the sky:
- Look at the Litten evo's colorless doodle with it laying on its back. ...Thaaat's pretty clearly the newly-revealed Mallow in the back. These are probably real.
...HOWEVER! A leaker who confirmed these AND predicted Alolan forms has updated with some newer info, and the most important part of it all - the starters may have two final forms.
For context - if wrestler Litten is my only option, I hate you Game Freak for ruining the one chance we had of a quadruped fire starter after six gens but I still hope the game's good - I'm gonna go Rowlet, though.
...however, if we're not done here yet as it seems we are... There's still hope. Please, just... just give me a quadruped tiger for an evolution so I can have Lurantis on my team.
