anyway, pastriez, i'm pretty sure you can get a larvesta egg before the e4, on route 18? at least, i think you can. I know you can't catch the wild lv75 one until afterward.
Also, D_W: Moxie Gyarados > Intimidate Gyarados y/n?

Re: Post your team!
Moxie is great on a physical sweeper with lots of coverage, Intimidate is great on anything that works like a tank. Gyaraos COULD work as something tankish and it's speed is only VERY slightly above average (81 instead of 78) but my main problem is that I sort of don't think that it's coverage is all that great. Moxie doesn't really help if you need to switch alot, unlike Intimidate...
I suppose you could do something with Earthquake, Stone Edge and Dragon Tail...

Re: Post your team!
I prefer intimidate. With power creep (weirdly) Gyarados foes increasingly well as a bulky-water. And OJ's right, Gyarados's speed and coverage make it difficult to sweep any significant (and consecutive!) amount of pokemon. But Moxie Salamence is really good, right cA? I haven't used Moxie Scrafty, my Scrafty Roxie doesn't moxie, she sheds shkin.
Also I hold out that Stealth Rock will get SOME form of nerf (even indirectly) this gen at which point Intimidate Gyarados gets a boost, unlike Moxie Gyarados which doesn't like switching.
Edit: who is Pastriez? You're not referring to Crumpetz, are you?

This Volcarona is indeed the one from the egg. The one I got from the Relic Castle is named Mothra.
I thought you did need flash in twist mountain? Are you sure? I might've taught it flash for something else, I don't really remember. I never did catch a Cryogonal in Black, though I tried.

I honestly don't know anywhere where flash is required in Unova. I mean, I know there are -some- places, but I can't think of any right now.

THat also exists in the 2 too and you need flash on the second level of the Relic Castle.
But you only need it for extra areas.

Screw it. I'm gonna commit.
CHESPIN
FLABÉBÉ
HELIOPTILE
SKRELP
BUNNELBY
RANDOM FLY SLAVE
I'm gonna pull a BW and avoid having any older gen mons, including Bulbasaur. And I'm avoiding spoilers for them, too - hope they're not available too late. I figure if they all evolve with the right typings (Grass/???? Fairy/Grass, Water/Poison, Normal/Electric, Normal/Ground) then I'll have every weakness covered handily and hopefully most resistances too. As long as they're all well balanced and none of them are really shitty.
I hope Bunnelby gets Ground Mono fairy flabebe wouldn't be too bad as long as it has good stats, with or without evolving.

Re: Post your team!
Guys would you mind rating my team so far? I need to come up with a good, solid team for a little tourney I'm doing with some friends. The plan after that is to have this as my gen 6 team though, so I want it to be as good as possible.
So Far I have: Aegislash, Greninja, Mega Gardevoir, Gliscor.
I was thinking of having Mienshao as my lead, Mienshao is an excellent lead. I don't have to, though.
What do I need? I kinda want to be able to balance out my weaknesses here, so that I can take out pretty much anything if not super-effectively then with neutral STABs (the attacker needs to resist the opponent in this situation ideally though). I'd like to use Kalos Pokemon as much as possible. I tend to prefer using sweepers, but I'm perfectly able and happy with a tank/stall Pokemon or even a status inducer, those are always fun.

Re: Post your team!
Necroing this thread to post my team from my randomized emerald nuzlocke.
- Spoiler:
BROOMFIELD
For a Fly slave, he does pretty well. Watch out for the odd Mirror Move!!
Fly, Agility, Mirror Move, Drill Peck
CROCO
Formerly named Crocoshit, Croco knows only HM moves. He's the only one of the original A-Team (feraligatr, swellow, steelix) left alive by the Elite 4. He kicks ASS.
Dive, Surf, Waterfall, Strength
GLADOS
After the untimely death of Cheeky IV, I needed to find something really good in an encounter to take on Juan. So, I used my Sootopolis City encounter fishing and hooked a motherfuckin Metagross. I leveled him up, he soloed Juan, and the rest is history. The randomized TMs gave me Outrage from the Brick Break guy, and Brick Break from Norman, so he has both.
Metal Claw, Outrage, Brick Break, Psychic
JACKSON
Supersonic, thunder wave, metal sound, SPARKSPARKSPARKSPARKSPARKSPARKSPARKSPARK
BONER
Boner's STRENGTH made it possible to move boulders around!
You and your Boner are extremely close. In fact, I'm a little jealous!
Boner used ROCK SMASH!
Boner used BONE CLUB!
Boner used BONEMERANG!
(iT used SENSE OF HUMOR OF A SIXTH GRADER!)
NABNOCK
Easily the most versatile member of the team. Depending on everyone else's condition, Nabnock can soak up hits, deal them out, or anything inbetween. Crawdaunt is a complete badass, really.
Surf, Crabhammer, Strength, Knock Off
IN MEMORIAM
Bird Moses
Carmen
Hella Jeff (one level away from evolving! one level!!!)
Annie
Anaconda
Cheeky IV

Re: Post your team!
Hahaha the name of the Jynx tho.
Actually I may as well post my VGC team here. Been getting some good use out of it.
Dere ya go.
Actually I may as well post my VGC team here. Been getting some good use out of it.
- VGC 2k14:
Linn (Shao on Showdown) [F]
Ability: Regenerator
Stat stuff: Jolly, 252 Atk/252 Spe/4 Sp.Def
Item: Focus Sash
Moves: Fake Out/Drain Punch/Knock Off/Rock Slide
Gotta love Mienshao. It's just so good at doing what it does! Linn earned her place on the team because I was using Scrafty as a Mega Kanga killer and was just really unsatisfied with good Ol'Moe's killing power and speed. So, come in Linn! Fake Out is to stop Mega Kanga from doing it itself, Drain Punch is a useful STAB that deals a hefty chunk to Mega Kanga and also heals up Linn if she's taken some small damage, meaning the Sash doesn't go to waste. Knock off hits Aegislash for decent damage, as well as Gengar (both types) and Meowstic Male too, so is definitely worth having round. Rock Slide destroys Talonflame and Mega Chari Y, and does a little damage to a whole bunch of other stuff with a nice flinch chance.
Ruby [F]
Ability: Prankster
Stat stuff: Calm, 252 HP/252 Sp.Def/4 Def
Item: Leftovers
Moves: Will-o-wisp/Taunt/Swagger/Foul Play
You gotta love it when OU sets work just as stunningly well in VGC, don't ya? Ruby is really, really useful. Will-o-wisp spreads Burn around like it's nobody's business. Mega Kanga and Garchomp especially feel its heat. Depowering those up is just so vital to have, especially seeing as they're basically the best two Pokemon in VGC and can absolutely not be left unchecked because they WILL hurt you badly.
Taunt probably doesn't need an explanation, but just in case: Amoognuss, Meowstic Male, Smeargle, Mega Venusaur, Other Sableye, Klefki, Anything I think might want to Trick Room, Mega Gengar, Normal Gengar. Oh, and if I ever wanna stop something from using the present-on-pretty-much-every-vgc-Pokemon Protect, it helps there too. Taunt is just so damned useful.
Swagger and Foul Play are just delicious together, and allow Ruby to not only cripple physical attackers but special ones too. Half chance of your opponent not attacking? Yes please. Plus Foul Play on anything defensive is just beautiful. Especially when you consider that because it uses the opponent's attack, Any intimidate user is not gonna bother me. Neither is King's Shield.
Vaike [M]
Ability: Mold Breaker
Stat stuff: Adamant, 252 Atk/240 Spe/16 HP
Item: Lum Berry
Moves: Dragon Dance/Protect/Dragon Claw/Earthquake
Taking a leaf out of Dee's book here and using what is effectively his Haxorus set. To be honest, I kinda consider Vaike here to be Garchomp in many ways. He has a very similar moveset to what Garchomps run. So why didn't I just use Garchomp? Simple answer: Mold Breaker Earthquake. Having it around is really useful, especially in a Meta where Rotom Heat is actually more common than Rotom Wash (only by one place in the rankings, mind you). Non Mega Gengar targeting is also useful. Also it will kill the few things with Sturdy in VGC in one hit, so there's always that.
Anyway, Dragon Dance means that you're fast enough to go first against most things, and either offsets the Intimidate you just got handed or boosts you up one point. Protect is necessary in VGC. Like literally unless if you have really good recovery options (Mienshao), are very difficult to touch (Sableye) or are running a Choice set, you need Protect. Always. It's just really handy, and I've used Protect on Haxorus especially once he's boosted up to lure both enemy attacks and allow Vaike's partner (omg I just realised how I'm using Fire Emblem characters for the first time in a Doubles team where partnering up is a massive part of strategy hahaha that's hilarious) to KO something. Dragon Claw is a useful STAB, basically. Lum Berry to curb Will-o-wisps and Thunder Waves should I get a Prankster who Ruby hasn't or can't deal with.
Elizabeth [F]
Ability: Blaze // Drought
Stat stuff: Modest (I think my ingame is Timid though), 172 HP/60 Def/252 Sp.Atk/24 Spe
Item: Charizardite Y
Moves: Protect/Overheat/Solarbeam/HP Ice
Gotta love how Charizard lends itself so nicely to English Royalty names (Charles, Lizzie/Elisabeth), right? But yeah, Lizzie is my Mega, and also definitely the highest tier Pokemon I have on this team. She just kinda worked well for what I wanted her for. I use Protect for obvious reasons. The rest of her set might seem a little odd, but it works. Overheat under Drought is just NASTY, and will almost definitely OHKO anything weak to Fire. Anything that has a meh Special Defense will also get dealt a nasty chunk too, if not also be OHKOd.
Speaking of Drought, how about a nice Solarbeam to go with it? Useful for clearing the field of Water types.
Actually on the note of Water types, Elizabeth and her Partner that I'm gonna talk about next are my primary destroyers for Drizzletoad. They work really well, even if they're all I really have. All I need to do is be careful of Drizzletoads that run Rain Dance in addition to Drizzle (because that's definitely a strategy that happens) and I'm set.
Finally, HP ice deals with what it usually deals with. No tier is safe from things that are 4x weak to Ice, it seems, so having it around is pretty vital. Especially for Garchomp. I can't always rely on Ruby or Vaike to deal with Garchomps. And actually tbh Elizabeth is the Pokemon use the most to take them out, purely for HP Ice. Once they're burned they can't really do anything to her before she can kill them.
Damsel [F]
Ability: Speed Boost
Stat stuff: Modest (again my ingame is Timid I think), 4 HP/252 Sp.Atk/252 Spe
Item: Life Orb
Moves: Protect/Air Slash/Bug Buzz/Solarbeam
Ok, ok, I know what you're thinking. He's using a YANMEGA? Really? The answer of course is yes, of course I am, can't you tell what a Pokemon is from its sprite jfc guys. No but seriously, Damsel is an invaluable member of my team. I do definitely have a bit of a problem with using Protect on everything in VGC, I don't like how restricting it is, so when I thought of using Damsel, I was pretty happy, because Speed Boosters tend to run Protect even in Singles.
Anyway, after a +2 Damsel beats a Swift Swimming Ludicolo, which was a big factor in me choosing her. Not that that is every really a problem, because I tend to be able to time my Mega on Elizabeth well. Actually come to think of it I don't think there's ever been a battle where I've used Damsel but not Elizabeth. Probably because if I'm using Damsel, the enemy's team is probably also going to need Elizabeth to beat. It work well reallly.
Anyway! Life Orb is really nice for giving Damsel a little extra punch. Big Buzz deals with Ludicolo, Meowstic and a bunch of other less common threats that still need a reliable check. I also use it when I just want to deal damage, because it's Damsel's strongest move after STAB. Air Slash has mad usage. Amoonguss is a common target, but so are stuff like Scrafty or Mienshao. And finally, Solarbeam. Enemies fielding double Water is extremely common, plus messing around with Protect means that sometimes I prefer for Elizabeth to not attack ona certain turn where I need to take out say a Politoed of something, so I use Solarbeam on Damsel too. And actually, I can't say there's ever been a situation where I've wanted a different attack, so I'm pretty happy that it's there.
Kellam [M]
Ability: Rock Head
Stat stuff: Adamant, 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Sp.Def
Item: Expert Belt
Moves: Head Smash/Iron Head/Dragon Claw/Protect
Oh look another Fire Emblem character. Anyway, Kellam is here for three primary reasons.
1. Rock Head Smash
2. Fairies.
3. Rock Head Tyrantrum is yet to be released. (For reference, my team if it was would be Tyrantrum/Excadrill instead of Haxorus/Aggron most likely)
The amount of things in VGC weak to rock is actually pretty high. So why not pack something to utterly destroy them? I definitely needed a reliable Talonflame counter. Linn and her Rock Slide are great and all, but considering how common Talonflame and Charizard Y are, I needed something a little more reliable to deal with them. A Head Smashing Aggron does that pretty well, especially when you consider that said Aggron won't take any damage from that Head Smash due to his ability. But Head Smash's usage doesn't stop there! With expert belt, Aggron OHKOs Gyarados (AFTER Intimidate). Head Smash also deals with Zapdos, Salamence and Aerodactyl to name just a few. Any STAB of that power is also going to be threatening to anything it hits neutrally too.
Iron Head is pretty much just there for Gardevoir and other slightly less used Fairies, but I've found it to be of some use elsewhere, such as Tyranitar or Aerodactly too.
Dragon Claw is a coverage move. Interestingly enough I don't tend to use Kellam and Vaike in the same battle a lot of the time, and I've found that since Knock off and Foul Play have been added to my team (I wasn't suing them before), a Dragon move is much more useful for coverage.
Dere ya go.
