Okay, this is just throwing ideas out there so feel free to shoot 'em all down. How about:

Low attack & special attack stats, but access to some pretty hard hitting moves.

Low to mid defences, but the best evasion raising moves, like double team. It's a fragile speedster. Fast, Stealthy and can become hard to hit, but can't take or deal enough damage to be especially annoying.

High speed stats, obviously.

With this set up, thier high speed would let them set up high evasion moves first most of the time, but any hit that gets through really hurts. The low attack stats mean that even with the access to high tier attacks, they need to rely on staying undetected to do major damage.

I dunno if this is too gimmicky or even good design?? But eh I had fun imagining it.

Double Team is perfect for a stealthy pokemon, it's definitely gonna learn that pretty early

And yeah, it's probably gonna be fragile

What about Minimize, as a better evasiveness move it learns later on? Double Team still takes a few turns to be useful.

Why is minimize better? I thought they had the same exact function

Oh hey, I didn't know minimize raises by two stages now. But isn't it a bit odd flavourwise?

I just checked. In gen III, minimize does the same exact thing as Double Team except it also causes the user to take extra damage from Stomp. I think maybe I'll just stick with double team.

Oh yeah your sticking with leaf green, I forgot.

Even then I swear minimize is worse than double team. Not with stats or anything, just when I fight some AI who uses it. stupid small muk...

In other words, for gen 3 it's actually both weaker AND less flavourfull then double team

You are right, how could I be so blind! Obviously a jet is more likely to suddenly shrink then it is to move really fast! mspa

Fun fact: If your Muk uses minimize too much, it will eventually devolve into a Grimer

This may or may not be true

Is it bad that I posted this comment solely to say "yay, it can breed with Sharpedo, it can have the coolest father evar"
And then I immediately regretted posting this

But then... if they can spin freely and be launched out of the mouth at any time, they must not be attached to the thing at all! What makes Coprisaw's body realize the blade thing is "lost" and begin growing a new one, then, if the blade's isn't normally even connected to it?

No they're just attached using special muscles that can spin using a complex contracting motion

And the blades just sort of disconnect from the muscle tissue when they're ready to be shot off. It's like, apoptosis or something.

(not everything in pokemon has to make perfect biological sense, as much as i'd love for it to)

How do these stats look for the airplane-y thing, assuming you are going with the ideas tinning suggested?

65/83/83/74/78/117 (500)
It's sort of like a Whimsicott except not!

Also, um, it's going to be based on that plane in terms of design, I know that, but what is it? Like, will it be biological or mechanical, will it resemble some sort of living creature as well as a plane, how plane-like will it look, why does it look like a plane, etc. It's a neat idea for a fakemon but I need to know more about it before really forming any ideas or opinions.

I guess it'll be some kind of bird?  All I know is that the first one is gonna be shaped like the B-2, and it's going to evolve into one that looks like the F-117.  Their names are probably gonna sound like the aircraft's names, like "Flighthawk" for the evolved form.  idk i'm still hammering out these ideas in my head

In the meantime, I inked a drawing of another water-type, with a two-part family.  They're both water/electric; the first one is based on an electric catfish, and the evolution is based on a torpedo (not the military kind; their stingray-like namesake).  And since torpedoes are already electric, it makes perfect sense.

edit: Forgot to say, those base stats look good for the evolution, muffinz. I'll probably use them Very Happy
