If both were guaranteed to happen in sequence, which would you rather have released next?

WHOO BOY
Even reading that gives me a good idea of how I'd react. I am terrified of blood and gore, and the fear of somehow getting hurt in everyday life has made me take much fewer risks than most kids my age.
However, when it comes to injuries that are happening RIGHT NOW, I actually...sort of lock up and get very calm and clinical. I recently had a trip to the emergency room, and despite bleeding fucking everywhere, I wasn't very worried. In the moment, I have more of an "ok let's solve this problem" mentality. Fear comes later.
So I would probably be worried, of course, but mostly calm about things. Taking stock of things, trying to figure out if this is a survivable injury. A horrible panic attack is surely on the horizon, though.
Since this is kinda long and I write short paragraphs (plus I need to check everyone's shit), I'll leave the input on other people's powers and stuff to another post.

holy the vocal part of creata ima cry :O
v I will admit had the update happened without the pause I would have been disappointed by several things. Particular Karkat's... anti-arc? But separation kicked in, so I didn't care so much then and there

Since 6/12. I should probably give it a listen one of these days, but... I don't know, Homestuck just feels like it kind of fizzled out.

That's it. That is all you have to do to get a power. In fact, you can't even do anything else; the person getting the power CANNOT partake in that power's discussion. So your job is done.
BUT you're leaving us with all the work, so we're probably gonna be really brutal and give you a meagre power with loads of drawbacks. Instead, contribute to the power party!

Another fairly obvious thing is that we've got some people doing a LOT of the heavy lifting on the power building :V That doesn't matter *now*, since people have reasons, but if before voting we have a similar spread of comments, I'm gonna be *brutal* with the downside dice rolls. ok but on participating in the feedback on trigger responses stuff
1. i have like no time i'm working a full time job this summer and i literally get home from it and go straight to sleep thats how tired i am
2. telling me that im gonna have shitty powers if i dont participate isnt cool and just makes me less likely to want to participate
3. i dont know the original work that this is derived from at all so i dont know if im doing things wrong and i dont do things if im gonna do them wrong
4. i dont have anything to say that hasnt been said. i am bad at making judgments, unlike other ppl, and everything that has been said so far seems fine

^ It's cool if you can't or don't have time to, IRL stuff is stuff that happens (in IRL). iT has camp and OJ is internetless, and this is definitely not a must-do task by anyone's definition. On the flip side, though, no-one's obligated to fill the gaps left, either; this is totally an opt-in, opt-out setup and it rides on having roughly equal parts fuel and participation. ATM contributors have put in roughly... 5 times as much as they get out of it, and that's a really weird ratio to have, so reluctance to increase it any further is pretty reasonable IMO, if hella salty on my part *personally*... Especially in regards to providing motivation, Carrot/Stick style. I can't speak for anyone else here, but I'm kinda like on it. I don't mind doing the heavy lifting tbh, since it's honestly my jam and words come easy to me, but I hate drowning everyone else out (cough cough postcount cough) and I definitely don't want to push octi/spark/ss to put in more than they have already.
I've done this in real life, and it's way easier then since everyone's grouped around a table and can chat conversationally, bouncing ideas off of dumb comments pretty much instantly. Obviously it's more difficult to do that via interwebs. But I guess the analogy there is if someone is at that table and not saying anything at all after trigger allocation, or leaves after 5 minutes (took us about half an hour I think, including writing the triggers), nobody else is really gonna push themselves to provide more info than the very bare minimum as the situation demands. Which is probably nothing, really.
--------------------------------------
Alternatively, if we want to just collectively draw a line and say "nah let's skip the discourse and just get powahs now, capes agogo, laserbeams activate", since it's getting on a bit, I could pretty quickly pump out a single spoilered power to fill the bare minimum for each person left, and then we drop everything immediately after that and vote on the remaining ones, call it a day, and get down to.. idk rping or costume design or something. That might suit people better since the guys that find the discourse fun have probably already done all of their discoursing by now.
Original alternative to that:
Follow steps, develop powers. Spoilered for shorthand assertive notes on how to do it. Simple but totally valid example provided.

- Spoiler:
Disclaimer: You don't have to have read worm to develop powers! I guess if you've never come across any fictional media it'd be hard to do, but that's pretty unlikely. The power gen stuff is a standalone RP thing more than a "this is how a book describes it" thing. The only reason they're really linked is the author of worm came up with the classifications, and they're pretty great.
So, you read people's triggers and how they responded. I think we're just waiting on OJ's because *internet* but everyone's is up. The most recent (and therefore highest priority) responses are in the last two pages here.
Then you read those nice friendly grey texts at the bottom of the spreadsheet. They're two-liners on what defines a power.
Your job is to decide what classification the power should probably be in, based on the trigger. (most of the work is done for you in the lines on the classifications.)
Here is an example:
Trigger: "I was mugged in an alley, but escaped after throwing my bag at them. When they saw it was empty they came after me, i tripped and one of me shivved me in the side, and I triggered."
Response: "i r scared and also ouchies"
example suggestion:
"Based on *personal opinion*, I think this sounds like a Brute power, since Brutes are "created from experiences of physical damage or pain." Maybe a Mover because they tried to run away."
The specifics come after that. If we only used the classifications, this guy's power would be "forcefields. And also regeneration. And probably super speed." But that's SO BORING D: So we pull traits from random words for ideas, e.g. (these are also in the doc)
Flight
Apple
Volcanic
"Volcanic is really cool so maybe the brute power makes them heat up really hot and burns out/heals any problems in their body, maybe they can use the heat to rocket themselves forward, like in flight! Maybe the apple means they need a fuel source for it, like apple = food etc idk"
That's most of the job done! It helps if it's better developed, or if you have several ideas, but those aren't needed at all. It helps WAY MORE if you comment on other people's suggestions. You can get really well rounded, unique powers this way. In a conversation IRL you could get it done in 5 minutes unless you had a really obscure trigger and wordset.

Re: Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon: Spoilers ahoy ☀
Heyyy guys I'm back sorry for the delay. Though I admit a good bit of the delay was due to Pokemon GO. I really do enjoy doing these (though quality of content may vary), so here we go!
IT:
My laundry's almost done and I may have to pop out for a while, but rest assured I'll get to Cap when I can!
IT:
- Spoiler:
Edge, Grapefruit, and Paleontologist. With the apologetic thugs, yes. Confusion, more flight than fight, and anxiety...
I'm seeing definitely some Mover here, what with wanting to get away from this situation that you don't get and you don't appreciate in the slightest, and that has a high chance of you getting seriously hurt. Not quite Brute or Blaster yet since these guys haven't started beating you up yet. Probably some Blaster given that you're surrounded by thugs who are about to beat your face in, but haven't yet.
Now, with edge and grapefruit, I'm getting a sort of "sharp" vibe (I know citrus being sharp is stretching it, shhh). Paleontologist... let's say claws and fangs associated with, say, dinosaurs. You'd be able to shape rocks around you into blades (and perhaps armor plating a la ankylosaurs) to use as projectiles and you could probably jump on top of something you're shooting to travel a bit of distance like riding a rock skateboard. Grab a chunk of rock, place it in front of you, and do a little "make it rain" gesture really fast at someone you wanna stick full of shards of stone.
Pros: you're an earthbender now, and if you somehow get your hands on diamond, you could probably do a bunch of damage
Cons: lugging rocks around
Or we could go an earthier way, what with grapefruits being plants that come out of the ground and paleontologists being very much involved with soil, if stereotypes and elementary school educational films are to be believed. Say... a power that lets you teleport into the place of approximately the same volume of dirt and rock, but the dirt/rockstuff explodes outwards to make space for you. You'd be great at mining, as long as people don't get in your way. Perhaps you'd have some amount of fine control over the direction and velocity of your projectiles, too.
Pros: blam blam rocks and also tunneling
Cons: you're gonna have a hard time indoors unless you want to destroy some decorative planters or someone's granite counter
My laundry's almost done and I may have to pop out for a while, but rest assured I'll get to Cap when I can!

I kind of want to wait for OJ's suggestions before i work on some power descriptions, so that's a bit on why I haven't been saying much.
Also, i'd totally be up for an RP with these powers :0

Maybe he's trapped in a time anomaly. From what I know of Germans, they hold timeliness in high regard, so this is clearly the only reasonable explanation. We shall have to rescue him! Super team, mobilize! Only we don't have powers yet ;_;
((We could be the...Quaran-team? Although that might cause confusion among some Islamic bystanders.))
The time anomaly known as study stress before the exam period, I'm gonna try catch up to this forum now, sorry for the long wait

I haven't graduated yet, but I'm pretty close. Just one more semester to go. Hooray for the department being too small to offer any upper-level classes more than once every other year.

What kinda upperlevel classes? AFAIK here they're just... classes. Extra projects can exist, of course, but they'd still be the same "level". Still on track to doing a postgrad?

Basically, classes with subject matter intended to be an appropriate difficulty level for juniors and seniors. This stuff is what you take once you're done with the intro-level classes for the major.
And yes, I'm still looking at a master's. I've been applying to grad schools this summer, so we'll see how all that pans out.

Re: Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon: Spoilers ahoy ☀
New S&M trailer. There's a lot, and some of it is pretty juicy.
- Spoiler:
- Right off the bat, we've got six new Pokémon. First up, there's the Normal/Fighting Bewear, an affectionate bear that doesn't know its own strength; it can either have Klutz or the new Fluffy ability, which halves damage from contact moves but gives it an effective weakness to Fire. Next up, there's Mimikyu, a Ghost/Fairy type that disguises itself as Pikachu out of loneliness; its new Disguise ability lets it avoid damage once per battle. Then there's Wimpod, the timid Bug/Water horseshoe crab; its new ability Wimp Out lets it run from battle or switch out if its health falls below half. Bounsweet is a little Grass-type that almost looks like it could have been a middle stage between Cherubi and Cherrim; it comes with either Leaf Guard or Oblivious (Serebii says Flower Veil instead of Leaf Guard, but I'm going off the official site). Our penultimate addition is Comfey, a tiny Fairy-type that has a wheel of flowers; it can either have Flower Veil (listed as Leaf Guard by Serebii, so I think it just got swapped with Bounsweet accidentally) or the new Triage, which is a healing-focused variant of Prankster. Last but not least, a stoic Ground-type horse with dreadlocks; it can either have Own Tempo or the new Stamina ability, which raises its Defense when it gets hit.
We also got some info on new and updated features. The Pokémon Global Link will let you host your own competitions now, rather than just giving you access to the official ones; support for Gen VI will be cut off, though. Then there's Hyper Training, which the official site implies will let you boost IVs; the official site makes a big deal about increasing the power of your level 100's, but it's still a little cagey with the details, so it's hard to tell if that's an actual restriction or if you can do it with Pokémon of any level. Either way, you'll need to bring Bottle Caps to an NPC named Mr. Hyper to do it; Magearna will come holding one, but there's no word on how we'll get any others. It also looks like your Pokémon's stats are going to be displayed alongside one of those hexagon graphs when you examine your party, which could be handy for estimating their relative strength.

Sad that mimikyu isn't called pikaboo, but I can nickname it and anyway they made up for it with the incredible name that is Bewear.
