General Chat: Dawn of THE FIRST DAY (72 hours remain)

I used to clone pokemon in the original Silver using the PC exploit. Not for the pokemon I was cloning, but because

A: The clone would also have a copy of the item it was holding
B: Pokemon can hold master balls
C: This is the gen that introduced the pokeballache that is the roaming legendaries.

I didn't see this as cheating either, tbh. Roaming mons need a chance to flee, not a guarantee.

If they'd at least have a better catchrate...

You know, I have to say I'm surprised at just how much you get access to once you beat all the Gyms. I am a little disappointed at how small Sea Mauville was, though.

I know! Even before the 8th gym... 5 minutes into soaring and you can have a team of 5 legendaries if you want. Crazy. And after that...? Woah!

I beat the delta episode and now I'm like "woah shit. What do I do??" Not because there isn't stuff to do, I'm just not sure what! Do I move over all my bank mons in an attempt to flesh out my dex? Or farm Master balls with the lottery? Do I start SRing legendaries, of trade over my master balls? Do I start farming BP in the maison? Searching out Absol's life orbs? SS Tidal, Sea Mauville, New Mauville, Mauville Heights, Dive Spots, areas I skipped (like Meteor falls or that route past Pacifidlog)? Collecting TMs, finding flags, training with Blisseys, building bases, or just a Mega Stone quest? Maybe find a shiny with the DexNav?

Or should I just get back to hatching Skrelp and train that Latias in XY?

Incredibly, I feel I should do the latter. But the former is making my eyes water. Just... Wow.

Also I can't think of a decent nickname for Latias :/

Well, what do you plan to do with Latias? Maybe you could give it a name depending on its purpose?

Bold Sub/Roost/CM/Stored Power Mega Latias. Great, albeit one-dimensional, win condition whose only counter is (admittedly any) dark type. Hella bulky, easy to set up with, very strong, quite fast and statusproof. I'd have gone with a non-mega support set because Megas aren't as useful as a whole as single Pokemon, but you need Defog for that, and, well...

So yeah nothing of help there. I don't want to go with a cliche goddess name, so that's Selene/Celeste/Diana/etc out. And anyway half of the best goddess names are moon goddesses and that's for Cresselia :O And there's nothing usable from Gnosticism. Meanwhile foreign words for "to soar" are all unusable, although the latin route phrase exaurare (from ex aura, out of the air) is nearly cool, except you can only get away with xes and "aura" in a nickname in certain cases and this isn't one of them. They're like planes... Jetstream is lame and kinda masculine, Contrail is a shitty nickname.

But contrails are like Cirrus clouds. I could call it Cirrus. And then that leaves Nimbus for a future Latios, though Nimbus is a name better left on a Rain Team... Shame I can't rename my Tornadus!

Well, lets see...

The first name is always for Latias, the second for Latios

Larissa/Lars - Just a regular name, starting with La
Lady Eona/Lord Eon - Based on the fact that they are eon Pokemons
Leona/Leon - A regular name that contains Eon and starts with L
Yin/Yang - Yin is, among other things, the female principle
Eve/Adam - Again, based on the male/female stuff

If you don't care about the duality theme, you could also name her something like Helia, from Helios, who rode through the sky each day, but you said something about god names, so IDK.

Actually, Helios is quite clever - though it'd be better suited to something with more of a fiery quality. But Helia? Lately (I think I've mentioned this before in passing) I want to avoid giving females names that end with a or feminine sounds because it's a little sexist. My male names have much more variety, whereas some of the female ones have previously existing male counterparts. Gen 4 me would have loved Leona/Leon because back then I had a habit of keeping the first letter of every Pokemon's species in it's nickname.

I've NEARLY got my Secret Base ready. I had to move area completely because the tree east of Mauville only had one base instead of two and it didn't work. But mine is in a really convenient area, and I like it. Just have to get a team of three decently levelled Pokemon and then I'll post the QR code

Well, if you want to avoid the a then Yin or Eve would be the most suitable options from the ones I've listed. Also, I, too, have a habit of keeping the first letter, though mostly only if I am giving a regular name without meaning. Also, there are many female names that aren't versions of a male name, but if you want to get a nice duality theme going between a male one and a female one, there are relly only two ways to do it, either using the male and female version of the same name or using the names of a well known couple, like Adam and Eve or Bonnie and Clyde or Romeo and Juliet

So how many Blissey Bases has everyone collected? I've got 5 secret pals and about 10 other ones, maybe more though since I haven't battled a lot of Base owners. It's pretty nice EXP. I've also got all of my secret pals as trainer types that give Base Decorations; when I've got all the ones I want I'll swap them out for ones that search for items. 'dat master ball chance I love bases, I really do. Shame this may be the last we see of them in their current incarnation! (inb4 remake remake)

Well, secret bases were also in DPPt, so we should see them return whenever those games get remakes. Hopefully GameFreak will decide to include them in future games, as well.

I have a Japanese blissey base whose main corridor plays the first bar of the super Mario theme I laughed SO hard at that one! The bases I've seen so far vary from fantastic to generic and bland, I feel I'm obligated to make one that I both like and that's interesting for other people. Or at least interesting enough to remember.

Haven't seen any dedicated maze bases yet, which is a shame. Or one with a lot of slides. I'm giving it time.

D, have you decided for the name yet? Because upon rethinking, I know names for a male/female pair of red/blue flyers, though I think HP might enjoy them more. Tibor and Lumia.

(I suppose technically, only Tibor is really fitting for flying but who cares)
