General Pokemon Art Thread: Where free time goes to die
I made this thread so anyone can dumb their art here! Whether it be a sprite edit, a picture, a neat plush, or that awesome Charizard keychain you made, this is the place!
RULES:
1. The art/sprite edit/whatever must be made by you! If you steal art from someone, I will rain hate on you.
2. Please keep it appropriate.
3. Don't insult someones art, even if they ask for critique. It's one thing to say you don't really like someone's art, it's another to tell them they're a terrible artist and to never draw again!
4. Keep the art related to pokemon in some way. You can have a picture with Strong Bad in it, as long as it relates to pokemon in some way!
I might put up a sprite edit nomination post if anyone really likes a sprite. Have fun guys!

Re: General Pokemon Art Thread: Where free time goes to die
Is it legal to steal your own art?
too bad I did it anyways
This is from back in the good ol' days of MSPA Pokemon thread, when there was a challenge to draw a Pokemon (or team of Pokemon) which was randomly generated and had random characteristics and natures.
Banette, female, sassy, good perseverance
Druddigon, male, bashful, somewhat vain
Muk, male, hasty, scatters things often
Sandile, female, serious, sturdy body
Unfezant, female, relaxed, loves to eat
Vanilluxe, female, timid, quick tempered
My comments on my work from back then:
Since then NN gave some good advice, especially considering shading on Druddigon, (thanks again) and said her favorite was Unfezant. Of course, I'm sure that's Gela's favorite too.
I'll also add some brief art notes of my own! The Banette one was my least favorite, because 1) I screwed up the facial shading, 2) the anger squiggle text doesn't seem to fit stylistically, and 3) the speech bubble doesn't look bubbly. Druddigon, as I said before, was the most difficult, but I feel I conveyed its personality really well. I'm not sure what to think of Muk, since the shading is really difficult to do convincingly, but I'm still pretty happy with it. Sandile is cute but I couldn't draw it in any other pose than its standard one, probably since I couldn't find enough pictures of its belly. Unfezant is my favorite of the bunch too, because it's really cleanly and smoothly drawn. And I enjoyed all the detail on Vanilluxe, it was really fun to draw!
whoops those were NOT brief art notes oh well

me, obviously wrote:That took a while, but it was a lot of fun and I'm proud of the results! There goes my self-imposed ban on drawing Pokemon. I never thought I'd actually be proud of something I drew on the computer (and with just a mouse, no less!)! I think I showed their expressions pretty well, too. Druddigon was probably the hardest, since I've never liked its angular design. Plz critique, especially D_What because you've got experience with this art thing.

Ooh will that Magneton is fantastic! I'm assuming it's a recent one? I hope so because there's very definitely improvement there. You've got ambient lighting and everything. It's a shame magneton doesn't reflect more of a blue colour, but all things considered, it really pops. You should be very proud!
Le sigh :/ I wish my tablet was in Germany getting fixed already. It's been months and I could've been doodling them away... All I have is an unfinished swan painting on Colours!3D. (The video is fun to watch though.) But since all my older posts are back on the mspa threads, I guess I can indulge in some harmless self-plugging... Hope this works:

- this is like 3 years old at this point:
- not drawn by me! a couple of free lineart color-ins from chewypokemon of deviantart.:
one of the last things i colored with a mouse..
aaand the first thing i colored with my tablet.
yeah, it's really blotchy and messy, but i still like it.
- from waaay back when i thought it was ok to trace things. only posting because i beleive that it's my best traditional shading to this day.:
- on the 'mons, that is....
and this one to a lesser extent
there's also the clayporeon, pendulum's picture, and the megadedenne thing, but i posted those other places already.

Re: General Pokemon Art Thread: Where free time goes to die
You've probably already been through my dA gallery, but if you haven't, here are some of my favourite things I've drawn.
- Spoiler:
Onisuzume (Spearow). I did a handful of these all with short poems; I was inspired by the poems at the end of the Japanese anime episodes.
My fake Lepardas evolution, Machairo (Mach-hai-ro, like the speed of sound + "machairo(dont)"; dub name Insidiodon).
This was inspired by a video of a particular Chinese ripoff hack where for some reason the "Pikachu" on the Pokémon menu was a weird Pikabunny thing. It's a little old, but I still like it.
This one came from a couple of lines in Buffet Breakfast. I still love the composition in it.
Aaaand then there's this, for which I actually replicated nearly an entire Pokémon card template in my vector program with shapes and gradients while referencing a couple of Japanese card scans I found in order to get the best possible quality. For some reason, I always thought the idea of Fire-Kojirou had the potential to be really awesome, and I still kind of think that.

Re: General Pokemon Art Thread: Where free time goes to die
Yeah I don't know what that is. I'm really content with how my art style has evolved though; I think that's about 90% of my artistic potential, and I think it looks pretty good.
Edit: oh my god it's the all the things guy
this is where that came from
my internet crusade is complete
goodbye

Hyperbole and a half is written by a chick
and she also has the thing about the alot.
which is better than the "all the things" meme.

Just to see if I could, I drew Scoville in normal, god tier, and dream form. Definitely the most work I've put into shading, and it really shows. Well, except for the latter two, since I didn't have a large enough palette of canon colors to do shading.

And now I finished Team Flame from Spark, Misc, and Nelly's PMD RP! The proportions are way off unfortunately, but other than that it's by far some of my best work!

Re: General Pokemon Art Thread: Where free time goes to die
sorry to ruin this for you but when that image loaded i automatically averted my eyes because it looks suggestive
Re: General Pokemon Art Thread: Where free time goes to die
.......

i wanted to draw the two interacting somehow, and avalugg looks too clunky to interact with anything outside of "put stuff on top of it."
lapras too, for that matter. unless it's underwater you're pretty much restricted to "make it sit there and look at something"
i'm surprised your post wan't about how i missed including swinub with "awesome ice types"

Re: General Pokemon Art Thread: Where free time goes to die
now there's an idea
avalugg with a small herd of swinub sitting on its back
if you're gonna put something on avalugg's back, it's fine as long as it's standing up or something
