I want to play - I mean, Let's Play the Golden Sun trilogy!
Apparently, there are people here who don't know what Golden Sun is, the filthy heretics.
I must rectify this posthaste.
So, before we begin, I'll just do a short introduction. Golden Sun is a series of handheld JRPGs made by Camelot, set in the more or less generic fantasy world of Weyard. Weyard is an actual flat world, complete with edges - it may have once been part of a larger world, but if it was, that all changed when the power of Alchemy was sealed away. Alchemy is the manipulation of the elements: fire, water, wind, and earth. It is said to have been able to do miraculous things, but it nearly destroyed Weyard, and so was sealed to prevent another disaster. Its power is contained within four elemental orbs, which are sealed under Mt. Aleph in the Sol Sanctum, to be guarded by the village of Vale. However, remnants of Alchemy's power remain, as there are humans, known as Adepts, who can still use the elements to their advantage through the power of Psynergy.
Unsurprisingly, Golden Sun starts with a young Adept who lives in Vale, here named Isaac because I like using the canon names for characters. What can I say, I'm unoriginal when it comes to things like this.
It would seem that either Isaac is a heavy sleeper, or he's died and his mother is only just discovering the corpse. Sadly, since this is a JRPG, Camelot isn't killing off the character you just named.
It'd be a lot more interesting if Isaac had been killed off, though; perhaps he's now a zombie trying to pass as human. I mean, it's not like he communicates in anything beyond brain-dead head gestures.
You're right, water tends to make flesh rot much faster. We've still got a world to save, we can't let our cover get blown now!
By "any second," you mean "as soon as we leave," right? That's plenty of time to ransack our neighbors' houses. After all, it's not like they need anything they've stashed in there; they aren't protagonists.
We'll get around to that next time.

Cool! I only played Dark Dawn, but I thought it was pretty fun.

Golden sun is great. I read another LP once that pointed out all the flaws, and there were quite a few of them I never noticed before, but I don't care because it's still one of my favourites. Played all of them so far, and even beat all the bonus bosses in The Lost Age.

You just know Iris would have been a great help during THAT fight...

Don't you unlock Iris after beating Dullahan?
It's one of those bragging-rights rewards. If you've earned it, you most certainly don't need it. But it's there to show that you're just that good.

Right, I said that we'd be looting the villagers' houses in this update, but seeing as this is the start of a JRPG, we've got a lot of dialogue to dig through before we can actually do anything.
That'd require a protagonist. Too bad you don't have one of those...
Hopefully, this isn't code for "I'm going off to die so the main character can have a motive to take down The Bad Guys™. You can never tell with these people.
"Take good care of our only son!"
"Nah."
And here's where I get control. Of course, I make a beeline for the nearest house. Unfortunately, when I try to go in...
Sure, let's just go with that.
...How about we not go right back into that house where he can see.
Good thing there's another one right up the stairs.
With a boulder out front.
That sure is one heck of a garden, mister.
Nothing of value here, sadly. You'd think a mayor would have more goodies stashed in his pots.
And out back is this guy, who has discovered the hard way that character portraits are heavier than they look.
Oh, and if you're wondering why this doesn't have much commentary, it's because I can't think of too much to say about the story. It's honestly kind of forgettable except for the setting, and there's been no world-building so far.

There isn't a lot of fleshing out of the Golden Sun world until you get to Lost Age and Dark Dawn. The original was kind of bland, to be honest.

Yeah, if it wasn't for that filter caused by the falling boulder, all the colors in this town would be amazing.
