Welcome to the Big Top Empty Welcome to the Big Top

The young Eevee clutched the moon stone in his paws, shaking with nervousness and excitement. His friend, a Baltoy, spun slowly, holding a fire stone. "Are you sure you want to do this?" the Baltoy asked. "We could always wait a few days in case you change your mind." The Eevee shook his head vigorously. "If I don't do it today I never will." His friend paused for a moment, then nodded. "Alright then." The Eevee dropped the moon stone and reached out for the fire stone. It was dropped into his paws. Suddenly, a warm feeling came over the Eevee. He felt invigorated! All of a sudden the feeling turned from warm to hot, and the Eevee screamed as he felt his body shifting and changing...

The circus had been there for as long as Isaac could remember. One day it just appeared on the outskirts of town, and nobody questioned it. He walked by it every day on his way to school, and every day on the way back home. Sometimes at night he would walk out there and watch the huge tent, listen to the voices and laughter, look at the light coming from the cracks of the big top. They had a show every night, but Isaac never saw anyone going to the circus, or leaving.

As Isaac was going to school he tripped over something. Curious, he picked it up. It was a stone as black as the night sky...

Flareon woke up, his body aching from the strain of evolving. He groggily sat up and looked around. There were dozens of pokemon, all suspended in cages. Some one the ground, some hanging in the air, suspended by great chains. As Flareon focused his eyes, he realized this wasn't his usual cage. Instead of being caged up with his friend Baltoy, he was in a large cage in a far corner of the circus tent. Before he could figure out who his cagemate was, he heard a horrible noise. The Salamance suddenly jumped from his side of the cage, claws out and ready to slice Flareon to shreds. Flareon screamed and shrank back into the corner. Suddenly, the Salamance stopped, held back by the chain around its neck. It roared, flailing in an attempt to attack Flareon. Flareon was lucky the Salamance's mouth had a metal muzzle on it. "At least the handlers care a little about the well-being of their actors." Flareon thought. "At least enough to want to keep us alive." As soon as he thought that, the lights came on, and humans started wheeling several of the cages out of the tent...

As the cage was wheeled along to the big top, Flareon looked around nervously, trying to find Baltoy. As he looked through the cages, he locked eyes with Clefable. Clefable was just like the others, one day she just appeared at the circus. She was quiet at first, and when Flareon tried to approach her during one of the few times the he was allowed out of his cage. Clefable then shoved a moonstone into his hands and babbled about moons and ghosts and the end of darkness. Since then she would rant about nonsensical things to whoever would listen. Flareon thought she was crazy, but for some reason he kept the moonstone. Suddenly, Flareon jerked as the cage came to a stop. The handlers started taking pokemon out of the cages one by one, dragging them along by their chains then tying them to metal poles in the ground. When a handler grabbed Flareon, he didn't resist. All that would happen was pain, and then you would have to go to the Big Top anyway. As long as you could preform, you would go. And if you couldn't...you were gone. And then another pokemon would show up a few days later.
--
Flareon watched as the handlers set up for the next show, chains around his legs so he couldn't escape. As much as he hated preforming, watching how the show was made was strangely fascinating. Suddenly he felt a presence behind him. Flareon turned, and saw Clefable not too far away from him. "Oh, it's you," Flareon said. "I'm sorry, I lost your moonstone." Clefable shook her head, a disturbed look on her face. "What is in the past does not matter, unless it appears ahead of you. You must always look ahead, lest you let the light enter your lungs and drown you." Flareon simply stared. Clefable suddenly jerked her head, as if hearing something. After a pause, she continued. "They're always the same. Always the same..." Then she stumbled as far away as her chains would allow her.

As the sun set and the darkness started over the horizon, Isaac slowly made his way from his house to the circus. This time he was going to do it. He was going to go inside the circus. As it became nighttime, it became harder and harder to see where he was going. When Isaac's eyes adjusted, he saw a small, unattended booth. A small sign was over it, saying simply "Ticket please." Isaac looked around but there was no ticket booth in sight. Disappointed, Isaac started to turn around, his will not strong enough. "Maybe another day..." Isaac muttered.

"Heheh. Looking for something?"

A young boy walked out of the circus tent, grinning. His curly white hair and pale skin made him look strange and otherworldly in the moonlight. "Um, I was looking for the ticket booth..." Isaac said nervously. The boy giggled, then handed Isaac a silver ticket. "You can have this, I have an extra one. Come on in!" The boy grabbed Isaac and took him inside the tent. It was bright and warm in there, and what must be hundreds of people where sitting in the stands. "I'm Xavier by the way." The boy said as he sat down in his seat. Isaac sat down in the seat next to Xavier and smiled nervously, and waited for the show.
---
Clefable ran back up to Flareon before the show started, her voice agitated. "The burning of the stake may not affect the traveler, but it will make the watchers angry." Clefable's eyes darted back and forth, glancing at Flareon before looking away. "I don't understand." Flareon said slowly. "The traveler seeks advice from the moon, but the moon turns him away. The light will end the traveler if the traveler does not run." Clefable said, but her voice was hurried and slightly higher pitched. "I don't understand you." Flareon repeated, as if Clefable would listen if he said it a second time. Suddenly, Clefable got close to Flareon, and her eyes gained a kind of clarity Flareon had never seen from her. "You have to get out of here." Clefable said, her voice low. Then she stumbled away again, singing a song about the sunrise.

I was actually wondering all day who chose the name "Dicksmcgee", but I didn't wanna ask. I guess this answers that question.

It was discussed in the MSPARP chat.

I want to see where this story goes! It's great so far!

Pokemon fanfic is the best, I remember i used to be really into this stuff. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

Although, to make reading easier, I would highly suggest starting a new paragraph whenever the speaker changes. That's very conventional among most literature, and helps break up dialogue into a more readable form.
